As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Donor Steps in to Cover Valerie Jarrett’s $30,000 Speaking Fee

Seriously? A school would pay $30,000 to hear Valerie Jarrett’s canned selection of sentences she’s using to cash in on her government service? Let her go speak to people who can afford to bask in ValJar’s sublime glow.

A donor has stepped forward to save Northeastern Illinois University from having to foot the bill for former Obama adviser Valerie Jarett to speak at the school’s commencement, the Washington Examiner reported. The school’s dire financial situation had made the choice into an outrage.

Despite budget impasses, cuts to class schedules and union protests, the school approved Jarrett’s $30,000 honorarium. The school’s board of trustees made the decision a day after the school’s interim president declared a “state of emergency” amid the 22-month budget impasse.

Audio obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times reveals many board members were outraged by the decision and sought to use the donation to offer a student scholarship instead.

Obama to Promote Girls’ Education – in Other Countries

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver remarks Tuesday at the White House about “expanding efforts to help adolescent girls worldwide attend and stay in school,” according to the White House.

“These efforts will build on the investments we have made and the successes we have achieved in global primary school education by elevating existing programs and public and private sector partnerships,” the White House said.

This is all very nice. But it of course begs the question, Why is the White House concerning itself with the worldwide education of girls or the worldwide education of anyone else?

At a time when our own schools are giving so many of our young people a lousy education, why are we devoting resources to helping other countries educate their kids?

Because, we are all one world! What are you, some kind of American exceptionalist?

This looks to be a Valerie Jarrett operation, likely done under the auspices of the White House Council on Women and Girls.

The Council was created by Bill Clinton – okay, sorry, that’s a bad joke – it was created by President Obama and is chaired by ValJar, her own pet project.

The council appears to do some useful things, like combating human trafficking in our supply chains and raising breast cancer awareness, and some harmful things, like the typical equality-of-results and affirmative action-type efforts you would expect from this White House.

But whether we’re doing helpful things or not, let’s leave the education of girls in Guinea to the Guineans.

Departure of Top Aides Could Grow Jarrett’s Power Further

President Obama will lose two of his most senior aides over the next few months, departures that could further augment the power of the person who is already the paramount Obama advisor, Valerie Jarrett.

The departure of Obama senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer next month would leave Jarrett as the last remaining White House official who has been part of Obama’s inner circle since the start. Pfeiffer served as communications director early in the administration and has long been viewed by White House observers as a man who had the trust of the president and his other aides.

Also departing is the current communications director, Jeniffer Palmieri, though she won’t leave until the spring. Palmieri, a veteran of the Bill Clinton White House, is expected to join Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Dobbs: Jarrett Diminished March, Calling it a “Parade”

I ran the video of Valerie Jarrett Thursday discussing President Obama’s no-show at the Paris march, but I missed this. I myself inadvertently called it a “parade” after hearing her remarks. But it was emphatically not a parade, and Jarrett probably was choosing her words carefully in order to minimize the issue.

“Not once, but twice, she referred to that march as a parade, dismissing and apparently trying to trivialize an unprecedented show of solidarity and European opposition to radical Islamists,” said Fox Business News host Lou Dobbs.

Here’s Jarrett again:

Actually, Ms. Jarrett, this is a parade. If Obama doesn’t get more serious about battling the war – yes, the war – against Islamist – yes, Islamist – terrorism, maybe he’d like to join this one.

Jarrett Condemns Israeli Gaza Operation as Child Killing

Valerie Jarrett, President Obama’s closest advisor, charged that Israel is slaughtering children and that the Gaza operation must halt.

“You . . . can’t condone the killing of all of these innocent children,” Jarrett said on Face the Nation. “This is why the cease-fire is so important. It’s a devastating situation.”

Israel contends that Hamas is ultimately responsible for the killing of civilians because it hides among them and provoked Israel’s attack. But Jarrett’s comment signals that the White House in fact accepts the Hamas narrative that Israel is the guilty party in the deaths of civilians.

Jarrett threw in the usual White House lines about how Israel “has the right to defend itself” and the United States is “Israel’s staunchest ally.” But it’s not clear what these statements mean when placed in the context of a suggestion that Israel’s attempt to defend itself by attacking Hamas amounts to child killing.

Meanwhile, the State Department chimed in as well, unloading vitriol against Israel after the accidental killing of civilians at a UN school in Gaza during an attack that targeted militants.

Spokeswoman Jen Psaki raged that the United States was “appalled” by the “disgraceful” Israeli missile attack. “We once again stress that Israel must do more to meet its own standards and avoid civilian casualties,” Psaki said.

Bow to Val!

What’s this?

The Blaze took a close look at Sunday’s Meet the Press interview with Valerie Jarrett, for which NBC was granted exclusive access to the West Wing so they could follow her around, and noticed this in her office:

Bow to ValJar

I don’t know. They look like suicide bombers.

Okay, I get it’s a joke. Valerie tweeted that it was a “gag gift.” But who has a photo with people bowing to themselves in their office, even for fun?

Who even has a photo of themselves in their office??

Like you need to look at yourself, but you have no time to run to the mirror. And so there’s the photo.

Anyway, in case you’re interested, here’s the video from Meet the Press. It gives you a little behind the scenes stuff. Note that while Jarrett gets to work at 7:15 am, Obama is nowhere to be seen during the morning.

Valerie Jarrett for Senate?

Or for something else?

White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett said in an interview that aired Sunday on Meet the Press that she might just run for office, though she termed the prospect “highly unlikely.” But she left the door open, and in politics, a door slightly ajar can quickly become a gaping chasm.

She also reiterated Michelle Obama’s denial that she will entertain a political career after serving as first lady.

Q  Is Michelle Obama going to run for office?

JARRETT: No.

Q  You said that very definitively.

JARRETT: Well, I’m absolutely, 100 percent positive that that will never happen.

Q  How about Valerie Jarrett. Will you ever run for office?

JARRETT: Unlikley.

Q  But maybe.

JARRETT: Not as definitive as the first lady, but highly unlikely.

Well, I give her credit for honestly. Or for skillful trial-balloon flotation technique.

I like her crisp, direct answers. Seems like the type of person you’d want giving you advice. Even if in this case, given the state of Obama’s presidency, it’s probably most often bad advice.

Jarrett is from Chicago. Presumably she would be thinking about potentially running for Senate from Illinois in 2016, when Republican Sen. Mark Kirk will be defending the seat.

And then for president?

Oh wait – she’s already had that office.

ValJar has a Boyfriend?

Obama confidant and one-woman White House power center Valerie Jarrett is dating sportscaster and  former Minnesota Vikings player Ahmad Rashad, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Look at the two love birds. Let’s hope that nothing ever gets between them. But alas, the former wide receiver might not be the catch of the year. He’s been… Continue Reading

ValJar “Reaches Out”

There’s a throwaway line in a Wall Street Journal piece today that should make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Actually, the hair on your head too. It’s a big, beautiful welcome mat to the new enhanced administrative action that will guide the rest of President Obama’s term and which he plans… Continue Reading

It’s America’s FIRST CERTIFIED ORGANIC RESTAURANT, according to Restaurant Nora. It’s been around for many years. Kind of a traditional destination… Continue Reading
