Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., let annoying Hawaii Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono know just what he thought of her line of questioning as her time expired during a Judiciary Committee hearing featuring Attorney General Robert Barr.
“You have slandered this man from top to bottom,” Graham told Hirono. “If you want more of this you’re not going to get it. If you want to ask him questions, you can.”
HIrono replied: “You certainly have your opinion and I have mine.”
Hirono had earlier called President Trump a “grifter” and said Barr should resign.
“Mr. Barr, now the American people know that you’re no different than Rudy Giuliani or Kellyanne Conway or any of the other people who sacrificed their once-decent reputation for the grifter and liar who sits in the Oval Office,” Hirono said. “Being attorney general of the United States is a sacred trust. You have betrayed that trust. America deserves better. You should resign.”
First of all, based on what I’ve seen, Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, might not be the exact person to be talking about how smart Democrats are.
But even if she has hidden stores of genius I haven’t noticed, it is so typical of Democrats to condescend to Americans by suggesting basically that they are being too intellectual for them.
In fact, it’s been my experience that Democrats are far more likely to emote while Republicans are left explaining the facts, such as that all these wonderful government programs may help a bit in the short run but ultimately create dependency and bankrupt the country.
Hirono spoke during a conference in Washington Tuesday:
One of the things that we, Democrats, have a really hard time is connecting to people’s hearts instead of [their heads],” Hirono said. “We’re really good at shoving out all the information that touch people here [pointing to her head] but not here [pointing to her heart].
But we have a really hard time doing that and one of the reasons– it was told to me at one of our retreats– was that we Democrats know so much, that is true. And we have kind of have to tell everyone how smart we are and so we have a tendency to be very left brain.
I mean, this has got to be quite an honor for her. Because being annoying is something which Washington’s elite, who fail at so many things, truly excel at.
I mean, think of the competition she faces! Chuck Schumer. Nancy Pelosi. Cory Booker. Elizabeth Warren. Joe Biden. Okay, sometimes Newt Gingrich, but I agree with him and like him anyway.
Mazie Hirono is just getting started. She’s not just Rookie of the Year, but Most Valuable Player too when it comes to annoying. Truly a go-getter, self-starter, and high-achiever. Congratulations, Senator.
