Why Republicans Should Respond to Kanye

Because, many African Americans are conservative – yes, it’s true – and Kanye offers the GOP a chance to broadcast the message that conservative policies help everyone:

From a piece I have running right now on the Washington Examiner:

Kanye’s journey to the GOP is frighteningly lonely, given the worlds he comes from — black America and the arts community. Most Republicans, habituated to ceding the black vote and black problems to the Democrats, don’t seem to care that West is reaching out. Trump, derided as racist, rarely fails to mention the declining black unemployment rate, meets with black leaders to talk about prison reform and other issues, and cares — maybe personally, maybe politically, or maybe both — about West’s message that it’s time for blacks to return to the Republican Party. “Actually, blacks weren’t always Democrats,” he noted on “SNL.”

There is plenty of room for Republicans to make gains among black voters, if only they would try.

White House: Trump to Have Roast Chicken With Kanye and Be Joined by Jim Brown

Why it was necessary to release the menu for President Trump’s lunch with Kanye West, I dunno. But anyway, from the White House:

Today at approximately 12:30 PM EDT, President Trump will host a working lunch in the private dining room off the Oval Office with award-winning Rapper, Producer, and Fashion Designer, Kanye West, Hall of Fame Running Back, Jim Brown, Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor, Jared Kushner and Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor, Ivanka Trump.

The discussion will be centered on President Trump’s historic work to benefit all Americans such as urban revitalization, the creation of Opportunity Zones, new workforce training programs, record highs in African American employment, the creation of manufacturing jobs, ideas from his meeting with African American pastors, potential future clemencies, and addressing the massive violent crime surge in Chicago.

Lunch Menu:

Appetizer
Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze

Main Course
Roasted Chicken with Fingerling Potatoes and Sautéed Asparagus

I mean Caprese salad and sauteed Asparagus for Kanye? He should be served raw Grizzly Bear meat.

Of course Jared and Ivanka get to do all the cool stuff.

Kanye Headed to the White House Thursday to Meet With Trump

UPDATE: The White House clarified that the meeting will be Thursday. This piece has previously said the meeting would be Tuesday.

From a statement by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders:

Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner. Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.

Kanye, a rare Trump supporter in the entertainment industry, shocked the cast and audience at the end of an SNL episode September 29 when he began to make a speech to the audience about support for Republicans.

Trump is smart to meet with him. Kanye is an opening toward the African American vote for both Trump and Republicans. Even a small shift in black votes in several states could move them toward Trump in 2020, or at least strengthen his 2016 majorities in swing states he won.

Not to mention that conservative policies benefit African Americans far more than enslavement to liberal welfare.

Video || Kanye Makes SNL Cast Members Squirm With Pro-Trump Speech

This is priceless. At the end of Saturday Night Live, when everybody usually stands together and gives each other fake hugs, Kanye came out in a Make America Great Again hat and talked about how African Americans maybe should consider voting Republican.

In the videos below, which are the best ones I could find for you, it’s a precious moment to watch the smug liberals who comprise the SNL cast have to stand around looking mortified while Kanye blasts the Democrats.

I wanna cry right now, black man in America, supposed to keep what you’re feelin’ inside right now . . . the blacks want always Democrats . . . you know it’s like the plan they did, to take the fathers out the home and put them on welfare . . . does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan.

Kanye believes that the Democratic party, the party of slavery in the 1800s, is today reenslaving black people by hooking them on welfare and destroying the black family. Sure, he’s a little self-indulgent and weird here. But he’s also completely correct.

“We need to have a dialogue, and not a diatribe,” he said. Now, who is crazy, someone saying other points of view need to be considered, or liberals who will no longer tolerate any dissension from their thinking? Kanye is brave enough to disagree with most other African Americans, not to mention everyone in his industry, to say something needs to change.

The SNL cast get high-fives from their peers for being with the program and live in their safe space – the island of Manhattan and Studio 8H in 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Kanye is a rebel who is making sense, if unconventionally. Maybe he has more compassion for black people who are not as financially secure as the players who appear every Saturday night to deliver their mostly mediocre humor.

Some in the audience booed. Of course they did. Then they exited the building, dropped a dollar in the basket of a homeless person to feel good about themselves, and headed back to their apartments to congratulate themselves for not taking Kanye seriously.

Video || Kanye: I Would Have Voted for Trump

Because, well, he didn’t vote, but he would have supported Trump. And he says he might run for president himself in 2020.

“I loved his approach,” Kanye said of Trump’s performance in the debates.

Well, maybe Republicans can make serious inroads into the black community, as I’ve often hoped and predicted. I mean, at some point, enough is enough when it comes to failed Democratic policies that are getting African Americans nowhere.

And no, I don’t think Trump is a racist. I know he’s said some inflammatory stuff. And yes, he shouldn’t have hesitated before denouncing David Duke. But I just don’t think racism is his thing.

Anyway, here’s Kanye. He rambles a bit, and I’m not sure where this endorsement was before the election. But I give him credit for being brave and getting ready to incur a lot of dirty looks from his peers.
