Two leading Democratic presidential candidates — U.S. Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — have reportedly said they support reparationsfor black Americans affected by slavery, reflecting a shift in the importance of race and identity issues within the party.
The New York Times reported Thursday that Harris doubled down on her support for reparations after agreeing with a host on the popular radio show “The Breakfast Club” that the race-conscious policy was necessary to address the legacies of slavery and discrimination in the United States.
“We have to be honest that people in this country do not start from the same place or have access to the same opportunities,” Harris said in the statement to the Times. “I’m serious about taking an approach that would change policies and structures and make real investments in black communities.”
Warren also supports reparations. “We must confront the dark history of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination in this country that has had many consequences, including undermining the ability of black families to build wealth in America for generations,” she told the Times. “We need systemic, structural changes to address that.”
Now this is funny. Sen. Kamala Harris gets asked about her own tweet supporting actor Jussis Smollet for his suspicious, and now disproven claim that he was attacked by a couple of vicious Trump supporters at 2 am on a freezing night in Chicago where, you know, you find lots of Trump supporters hanging out.
And she can’t explain her own tweet. Notice how she seems to look around for aides to help her but is left on her own.
The veteran prosecutor and former California attorney general seems quite down with the guilty-until-proven innocent outlook of the Democratic Party, at least when it comes to race and sex crimes.
Well at least Democrats are telling us the truth this time about what they actually want: universal, free health care.
And as we all know – or at least, as conservatives know – nothing is for free. Harris actually has the nerve to talk about how her idea will reduce wait times because you won’t have to deal with insurers’ bureaucracies. Of course not! You’ll have to deal with the government bureaucracy.
Not to mention the rationing of a product that is given at no cost. You’ll either have to be rich and pay for private “concierge” doctors’ services or you will wait to be seen. And wait, and wait.
Sounds to me like the harbinger of an empty campaign. That’s not what the Democrat base is looking for.
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., announced Monday that she is running for president with a video talking about how she wants to fight for democracy, liberty, etc., etc., and to “bring our voices together,” which is also what the teacher who runs the glee club does.
The video includes people of every imaginable race – even including a family that looks like it’s of Indian or Pakistani heritage – as well as a mixed-race lesbian couple, which kills a couple of birds with one stone.
There’s nothing in the video about what Harris actually stands for. But for the first time, I know for sure how her name is pronounced since she says it herself in the video. Its KAHmala Harris.
Okay. Sen. Kamala Harris, R-Calif., doesn’t seem to understand that the attorney general runs the Justice Department.
Watch his simple answer to her final question after she tries several ways to ask the same thing — why he would overrule “career officials” at DOJ. She seems to thing bureaucrats should be in charge of the country, not elected officials and their appointees.
Because, of course, bureaucrats are generally Democrats.
In her line of questioning, Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris tried to draw out a situation in which attorney general nominee William Barr would not take the advice of career ethics officials if they advised him to recuse himself https://t.co/0YTLEqI7yGpic.twitter.com/SBSqQB7UCj
My apologies to the men and women of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement service. This person is actually running for president.
Actually, what Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., says is that there is a “perception” among some that the way ICE goes about enforcing the laws has parallels to the KKK.
As in, Hey, not me, there just this perception out there. But she also says there “might need to be some work done to correct the perception.” And it’s a sneaky way of making an assertion without taking full responsibility for it.
Harris is also trying to set up the argument she plans to make during the presidential campaign that ICE needs to be abolished.
If there are people who think the men and women of ICE have anything in common with the KKK, it is those people, not our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line protecting this country, who need to do some “work” on their own perceptions.
Democrats, led by Sens. Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, who are going to run for the Democratic nomination for president, were joined by protestors in staging major interruptions to the start of the Judiciary Committee hearing on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court.
Felt sorry for Kavanaugh’s daughters, must have been traumatic, even though I’m sure people tried to prepare them for what was to occur.
I assume the outbursts by the demonstrators only help Republicans, as average people get more exposure to the type of people who will be running the country once the “Democratic Socialists” seize power.
Of course, that’s not going to stop her from runnning for president. I mean, it never stopped Obama. Well, she didn’t exactly draw that conclusion. I’ve helped her out a bit. She implied she’s done absolutely nothing by being unable to come up with anything concrete example when asked for her biggest “win” has been… Continue Reading
Alert the Secret Service. Now, this is a joke. Not particularly funny, just as a matter of humor, but not particularly offensive either. Because IT’s A JOKE. Now, if a conservative made a joke about killing a liberal president, we’d have to have a national conversation about violence in politics, right-wing hate, and the general… Continue Reading
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., has only been in the Senate for a few months, but she’s already showing her disrespect for the institution — and and lack of just normal human courtesy — and her inflated sense of self-importance. Not suprising for a leftist. This gal’s going places in Democratic politics! Watch her repeatedly interrupt… Continue Reading
With the first lady some 3,000 miles away in Washington, President Obama today commented on the allure of California’s attorney general, Kamala Harris, arguing that she is “the best looking attorney general.” I’m not sure what the competition is like, but judging by her photos, he may be right. Obama was speaking at a fundraiser… Continue Reading
