Shoes? Michelle Obama DIDN’T GO with Barack to NJ After Hurricane Sandy

First Lady Melania Trump is being slammed for wearing stiletto heels to board Air Force One for the trip to visit hurricane-ravaged Texas Tuesday. She later changed out of them.

Which begs the question: What shoes did Michelle Obama wear when accompanying her husband to Atlantic City to meet with local leaders and comfort residents? The answer is, she didn’t technically wear any shoes at all to go to New Jersey, because she didn’t go to New Jersey.

On October 30, 2012, President Obama took a day off from campaigning for reelection to go to Atlantic City and stroll around with Gov. Chris Christie to see the devastation. This is Michelle’s schedule for the day.

So, okay, clearly she was very busy. Actually, Mrs. Obama rarely accompanied her husband on official business, like foreign trips and so forth, especially in the second term. And the press didn’t seem to notice or care.

I’m sure Melania is thinking, “I never asked for this.” Indeed, she did not. Unlike her predecessor, for example, she has not established her own taxpayer-funded fiefdom in the East Wing, cutting the first lady’s staff from the 24 Michelle needed to just five.

But no one will thank her as long as she’s in heels.

Texas Gov. Abbott Praises Trump Hurricane Response

As you may have noticed, even though President Trump and the first lady traveled to Texas before the storm had even moved on and everyone agrees the federal response has been exemplary, the press is after Trump for not dropping enough syrupy words of compassion, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama would have been careful to do. Then they’d have been applauded in the press, even if the former laid it on too thick and the latter sounded like a Vulcan.

And if the feds were screwing this up, we’d be reading articles about how the bureaucracy was resisting the heroic efforts of a frustrated president, how local officials need to take the lead, or something like that.

Seriously, can the mainstream media discredit itself any more? And then they wonder why they get attacked by the president and conservatives. They don’t even seem to be pretending to take their bias out of this anymore. At least there was less bias when they were pretending.

Gov. Abbott:

The coordination at the federal and state and local level has been as good as in any tragedy that we’ve ever seen in the United States. As you know, I spent the day with the president, but today was not the first say that I’ve talked to him about this storm, our talks began before the Hurricane even hit Texas.
