The Washington Post’s David Igantius is one of those Beltway types who have been around forever. When he speaks, you know he is reflecting what many liberals around DC think.
He writes in the Washington Post:
I don’t think Biden and Vice President Harris should run for reelection. It’s painful to say that, given my admiration for much of what they have accomplished. But if he and Harris campaign together in 2024, I think Biden risks undoing his greatest achievement — which was stopping Trump.
Ignatius says Biden has two big problems – he’s of course assuming his policies are not among them. One, his age:
He would be 82 when he began a second term. According to a recent Associated Press-NORC poll, 77 percent of the public, including 69 percent of Democrats, think he’s too old to be effective for four more years. Biden’s age isn’t just a Fox News trope; it’s been the subject of dinner-table conversations across America this summer.
Two, his running mate:
Because of their concerns about Biden’s age, voters would sensibly focus on his presumptive running mate, Harris. She is less popular than Biden, with a 39.5 percent approval rating, according to polling website FiveThirtyEight. Harris has many laudable qualities, but the simple fact is that she has failed to gain traction in the country or even within her own party.
Everyone knows she’s not up to the job. Even liberals.
And neither is he.

So the Democrats will run Michelle and Hillary! In whatever order.
Can you even imagine the cat fights?
Rebekah, thanks for posting this as many will not see it. This one article by Ignatius is a fire alarm for the DNC. When you lose this stalwart defender of Biden and the left, you are in serious peril. The writer’s hatred for DJT is on full display, but even that was not enough to put out this fire.
Thank you R.

Yes, exactly! Thank you Harv.
This is all part of the bigger plan. They will drip, drip, drip damning evidence/news on Biden so he will eventually say he is not running. They can’t have Kamala take over as she would expect the DNC to back her. Once Biden declares he is not running it will open the door for Newsome or someone as bad.
