Judge allows Jan. 6 committee access to Trump documents

The ruling will be appealed. This will end up in the Supreme Court.

President Biden, of course, is all too eager to deny Donald Trump executive privilege. Until he needs it himself.

According to the Associated Press:

A federal judge denied former President Donald Trump’s request for a preliminary injunction to keep the National Archives from handing over documents to the Jan. 6 House committee.

Judge Tanya Chutkan of the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., handed down the decision on Tuesday in the lawsuit brought last month by Trump against the House and National Archives in which he seeks to claim executive privilege over more than 700 records.

“Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President,” the judge wrote. The ruling came hours after Chutkan shot down an emergency request Trump filed late Monday night seeking an “administrative stay.”

President Joe Biden’s White House has declined to intervene in support of Trump, and, as it stands, the National Archives is poised to deliver the first batch of documents requested by the panel on Friday.
