In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

McConnell may still vote to convict Trump

According to Bloomberg News:

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is signaling to fellow Republicans that the final vote on Donald Trump’s impeachment is matter of conscience and that senators who disputed the constitutionality of the trial could still vote to convict the former president, according to three people familiar with his thinking.

“The Kentucky Republican has also suggested that he hasn’t made up his mind how he’ll vote, two of the people said, even though he voted Tuesday to declare it unconstitutional for the Senate to hear the case against a former president.

“That position is starkly different than McConnell’s declaration at the start of Trump’s first impeachment trial last year that he did not consider himself an impartial juror.”

  1. McTurtle should be glad that he’s so old that this might be his last term in the Senate. If he wasn’t he would be worried that this might be his last term in the Senate.

  2. Alliance be damned! It’s what have you done for me lately!

I realize Trump ruffled some of McConnell’s feather but they made a good duo and that helped McConnell against his democrat challenger this past election cycle.

Trump could have helped himself too if he had been more helpful to the Georgia candidates during runoff.

    1. Trump did help his Georgia candidates. It was the Governor, The GA Secretary of State and Dominion Machines that knifed us in the back. Perhaps Republicans should care for their constituents and The Constitution AHEAD of what Leftists think.

      1. I agree with you OK lady, The GA governor, secretary of state and rigged ballots ensured the defeat of the republicans. Also, the Governor and secretary of state allowed Stacy Abrams to do all her dirty work in making sure that ballots were manipulated to ensure the defeat of the republicans.

        1. Governor Kemp and Secretary Raffensperger will find that Miz Abrams, like every other leftwad, will cut them no slack for their obliging behavior in the Senate run-offs. In their case, Kharma is likely to have very big teeth come next election.

  3. Again, most Republican leaders are weak kneed, yellow bellied, lily livered turncoats.
Democrats are united and never throw their own under the bus. Political wars of this magnitude (representative democracy vs. socialism/communism) are won based on strength and unity. It’s not looking good for Republicans.

    1. That’s true .. it’s not looking good for Republicans … and, by extension, not looking good at all for our country. The Demoncrats must be laughing their butts off seeing the top republicans destroying their own party.
