Trump signs Covid relief and spending bill

President Trump Sunday signed the Covid relief package, which is teamed with a spending bill, but he demanded changes and that Congress agree to $2,000 checks for adults.

Trump also demanded that Congress end “Section 230” protections for Big Tech that prevent the companies from being sued for content provided by their users.

From a statement by the White House:

“I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill.

“I am signing this bill to restore unemployment benefits, stop evictions, provide rental assistance, add money for PPP, return our airline workers back to work, add substantially more money for vaccine distribution, and much more.

“On Monday the House will vote to increase payments to individuals from $600 to $2,000. Therefore, a family of four would receive $5,200. Additionally, Congress has promised that Section 230, which so unfairly benefits Big Tech at the expense of the American people, will be reviewed and either be terminated or substantially reformed.

“Likewise, the House and Senate have agreed to focus strongly on the very substantial voter fraud which took place in the November 3 Presidential election.

“The Senate will start the process for a vote that increases checks to $2,000, repeals Section 230, and starts an investigation into voter fraud.

“Big Tech must not get protections of Section 230!”

    1. A good deal? He got nothing. He sent his feelings over to Congress. Republicans will reject the $2,000 stimulus checks again today. He got nothing.

  1. Thank you, Tina. I also thought that the President was just holding the bureaucrats’ feet to the fire and that he would ultimately sign the bill.

    1. How was he holding their feet to the fire? I don’t understand that when a lot of everyday Americans who need help were left dangling.

      He blustered and caved.

I agree with him that $2,000 should be the amount, but why wasn’t he more pro-active about that months ago?

  2. This morning I read of some of the “pork” in the stimulus. While we give a big thumbs up to helping those families and small businesses that are still suffering, shame on the legislators that included crap, yes, CRAP, in this bill. That sort of action is why voters detest Congress.

    1. None of our Congress critters realize just how much anger there is about sending millions overseas, when so many people here are hurting. They don’t get that we don’t trust them to do what is right, what they swore to uphold in The Constitution. Trust is a terrible thing to lose, once it’s gone, it’s gone. Those same feelings are held towards our The Supreme Court, FBI, DoJ, IRS, and especially our elections! If Republicans think that they can possibly regain our trust, they’re wrong!

      1. OKLAHOMA LADY, I agree with you. I would add that, in addition to the anger in sending our hard earned tax dollars overseas, there is also anger in allowing illegals to freely enter our country and use our tax dollars to financially support them. And I agree Americans who love our country have lost trust in our politicians, Democrats and Republicans, FBI/DOJ and elections. I would add the main stream media that reports only that which they want us to hear and hide what they don’t want for us to hear. Americans voted for Trump in 2016 because Americans were tired of corrupt politicians (like Biden) and because Trump is not a politician. The Establishment had to rig an election to get the people’s choice out of office. I pray the situation will not get worse but it may get worse if a fixed GA Jan 5 election sends two corrupt Democrats to the Senate. Pray for our country. Strong dark forces are hard at work against our country and against the average American who loves our country.
