Fauci has not briefed Trump in two months

Well, in case you were worried Dr. Anthony Fauci had too much influence.

According to the Washington Examiner:

The country’s leading infectious diseases expert and key member of the White House coronavirus task force says he has not briefed the president on the coronavirus pandemic in more than two months.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Dr. Anthony Fauci explained that his reputation for not “sugar-coating things” was probably responsible for his disappearance from TV interviews.

In March and April, Fauci’s appearances at the regular White House briefings turned him into a media sensation as he delivered no-nonsense updates on the spread of the disease, even as President Trump was predicting the worst was over.

But now, he says he has not seen the president at the White House since June 2 and that he has not briefed Trump in at least two months, although he is “sure” his messages are passed along.

“I have a reputation, as you probably have figured out, of speaking the truth at all times and not sugar-coating things,” he said. “And that may be one of the reasons why I haven’t been on television very much lately.”

  1. He has a reputation for no nonsense. He also has a reputation for opining on topics that bear no relativity to his profession… I do respect his medical opinion. After that, he is just another public official craving the klieg lights…

  2. He has masqueraded as a leader, but really is just a small cog in the leadership, he has no business having a microphone in front of him. His comments, opinions, and decision-making is for one purpose, to provide suggestions which will result in loss of as few lives as possible to the virus. What he has shown a complete ignorance for, and I believe this is the reason Trump no longer trusts him, is that preventing virus deaths is only a part of the ‘correct’ response to the pandemic.

Look, we proved we can slow the spread of the virus. At the same time, however, we also proved that we can’t STOP the spread. So why should we throw our whole culture under the bus to (just) slow it? There’s no point, unless we think a vaccine is imminent, which is not the case.

  3. Hi Keith,

Happy Friday. Can you please re-post the link to the Washington Examiner article above? The link in your post takes us to the Washington Examiner Homepage, not the specific article in question. Thank you, Keith.

  4. Dr. Fauci has done what all Swamp survivors do, turn whatever they do into a political career. Whatever your talents and abilities may be, once you are in government, they no longer define who you are, what does is, how do you play the game?

Dr. Fauci had become an expert at saying just enough to keep himself the darling of presidents, whenever they needed cover from “the science”. But with Mr. Trump his world caved in; as Mr. Trump saw through the facade and knew just exactly what he was looking at; a Deep State Swamp creature. This came from years and years of dealing with cut-throat business people, so he knew the breed had to be similar to back-stabbing bureaucrats and corrupt career politicians, not a great jump to see two sides of the same coin. So advice to you Dr. Fauci; go back to you dank dark lab and wait for maybe the next president to appreciate your talents.
