House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday said she that the removal of statues of George Washington. Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers should be considered because they were slave owners.
“I’m all for it. Let’s review it. Why are we glorifying the sins of the past?” Pelosi said during a “Washington Post live” event.
Pelosi suggested that the sins of Confederate were worse because they committed treason and that Washington and Jefferson holding slaves should not “undermine what they did for our country.”
Nevertheless, she said whether to keep their statues on their pedestals should be reviewed.
“You know what, subject everything to scrutiny and make a decision,” she said.
This woman is the Speaker of the House. It’s a watershed moment.
