Conservatives Question Haley Claim that Kelly and Tillerson Sought to End-Run Trump

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley claims in her new book that ex-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sought to recruit her in a cabal to resist President Trump, whom they presumably had decided was a lunatic.

Some conservatives are questioning this, wondering why she didn’t tell Trump. But it kind of rings true to me.

I pretty sick of younger former staffers who punch their ticket in Trump’s White House and senior ones who get to serve at the highest levels who then afterward head to cocktail parties to say they were just trying to protect the country against Trump.

Voters put Trump in office exactly to protect the nation against this kind of thinking – that the establishment knows best.

Anyway, Rush and some others think Nikki Haley may be lying. She says Kelly and Tillerson confided in her. If they did, bad move.

According to the Daily Caller:

“Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren’t being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country,” she wrote in her upcoming book. “It was their decisions, not the president’s, that were in the best interests of America, they said. The president didn’t know what he was doing.”

“I was so shocked I didn’t say anything going home because I just couldn’t get my arms around the fact that here you have two key people in an administration undermining the president,” she told the Washington Post in an interview about her book.

Radio host Rush Limbaugh questioned Haley’s conduct Monday, wondering if she told Trump about this alleged undermining.

“I have one question for Nikki Haley. Did you tell Trump what Kelly and Tillerson were doing, or did you save it for the book? And if you didn’t tell Trump and you only saved it for the book–what do you mean, you know about the book?” Limbaugh asked.

“She’s published a book, and in the book the big leak is that she says that the chief of staff, Marine General John Kelly, and Rex Tillerson, the secretary of state, sought to recruit her to subvert Trump, but that she kept all of this to herself until now, until her book!” he added.

  1. IMO. They were doing their jobs, advising the President on issues that he may or may not have all the facts or might cause him to make a hasty decision.
When MrTrump was elected to be POTUS, he found himself the CEO of the largest “company” in the world without all of the information that otherwise would have been available to someone raised to lead a private enterprise.
There is nothing wrong or treasonous for subordinates to resist what they are convinced is not a proper response or action, and we assume that any POTUS has met with negative or adverse reaction to something they might want to do or have done.
MsHaley, IMO, has exaggerated the intent of the men mentioned.
