As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Obama DHS Secretary Criticizes 2020 Dems’ “Open Borders” Stance

Let’s face it. By seeking to decriminalize illegal border crossings and abolish detention centers, Democrats are advocating an open border with Mexico.

This is bad news for the country. Democrats have lost their minds on immigration. But it’s certainly good news for the reelection prospects of President Trump, who was won the White House in no small part on the immigration issue.

There are a few sensible Democrats left. One of them is Jeh Johnson.

According to the Washington Examiner:

President Barack Obama’s secretary of Homeland Security criticized the presidential Democratic candidates who have come out in support of decriminalizing illegal border crossings.

Julián Castro, Obama’s secretary of Housing and Urban Development, has called for the repeal of Section 1325 in Title 8 of the U.S. Code, which makes it a misdemeanor for migrants to enter the United States illegally.

In his recently released immigration plan, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker said he would “virtually eliminate” all immigrant detention centers.

“That is tantamount to declaring publicly that we have open borders,” Jeh Johnson told the Washington Post. “That is unworkable, unwise and does not have the support of a majority of American people or the Congress, and if we had such a policy, instead of 100,000 apprehensions a month, it will be multiples of that.”

  1. It used to be that Mexicans (and others) came to the USA to earn money to send home to their families. The family would take that US-earned cash and buy cows, appliances, more land, etc. to upgrade the family financial circumstances.
Now that they choose to actually live here with promises of ‘free’ everything, they will find themselves close to the poverty level of American citizens. No welfare, free food, free anything is going to make them prosperous or raise their status as the money earned in the US and sent south did for them.
There are no ‘good’ jobs for people without a specialized education and a grasp of the Am-English language, there are only menial, low paying jobs for them.
We get it, we do. America sounds like Nirvana with huge TVs , fast cars, snazzy clothes, and huge apartments or homes. Free medical care!, who wouldn’t want that. The reality of a $500 a month welfare check in the US doesn’t compare to the $500 a month in Mexico in spending terms. The foreign monetary exchange between dollars and pesos is huge, which is why a lot of American retirees move to Mexico where their money goes further than here in the US.
The Dems all overlook the religious beliefs of most Hispanics – Catholics mostly. They don’t believe in abortion, gay anythings, and a government that interferes in everything.

Will the second generation vote Dem, who knows.

    • Good summary. Many rural here keep pigs in their back yard. They do not have bank accounts. The pigs are their legged banks.

The Texans of Mexican decent who have been in Texas for 6 or 7 generations are conservative. They are none too happy about the new arrivals.

Nicaragua is only staying afloat because of remittances.

Can you buy 10 bananas for a dollar? I can. Gasoline is the exception. It is usually 30-40 cents a gallon higher than US.

    • srdem65 – you have a few things wrong. Every anchor baby gives access to food stamps, welfare, etc., and that is used to help support the illegals here. Because the anchor baby has one or no parents officially, they get welfare until they are 18 years old.

As for low-paying jobs, illegals have moved into arenas such as construction. They on the job (your house) just enough to do a poor job, but they cost employers so little that they stay employed. Construction is not the only industry or specialty to be taken over in this way.

Then, when enough illegals are in a construction crew or a business, they freeze Americans out of the market by speaking only Spanish. It become necessary for an American to be bilingual to even by considered for a job. Jose or Juan from the home village shows up and fits right in.

Lots of the women are here because it means they aren’t under the thumb of their mother-in-law, which is the usual way in Mexico. They can run a small illegal business here, get wefare checks for the anchor babies and perhaps not even have to put up with machismo.

These countries aren’t sending us their best, Trump spoke truly.

  2. The Dems don’t care who is in this nation as long as the result lets them take power permanently. Their leaders are the party of treason.

    • Bingo. And the Republican leadership don’t care because they are in the back pocket of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who want cheap labor. They are also traitors.

  3. “No welfare, free food, free anything is going to make them prosperous or raise their status as the money earned in the US and sent south did for them.”

I’m sorry I disagree. They won’t have to work, get a roof over their heads (without a dirt floor), free food, and free education for their kids.

We don’t need all these unskilled labor. Many predictions show that a lot of the “jobs Americans won’t do” will be automated by 2035. A LOW estimate I’ve seen is 40% of unskilled jobs will disappear. A recent poll showed that 40% of Mexico would like to come here. That’s 48 million people, folks.

  4. If the Democrat “hopefuls” want to turn the U.S. into a third world country, maybe the U.S. should give away benefits as other countries do. Ppl might not come here in droves as they are now.
