In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Forty-Three Percent of Americans Think Socialism is “a Good Thing”

Actually, they are mistaken. Socialism is a bad thing.

How quickly people forget. Honestly, we’re less than two decades past the Cold War, and already Americans are forgetting just how bad socialism can get.

Most Democrats support it, of course.

According to Gallup:

Americans today are more closely divided than they were earlier in the last century when asked whether some form of socialism would be a good or bad thing for the country. While 51% of U.S. adults say socialism would be a bad thing for the country, 43% believe it would be a good thing. Those results contrast with a 1942 Roper/Fortune survey that found 40% describing socialism as a bad thing, 25% a good thing and 34% not having an opinion.More Americans Now See Socialism as a Good Thing for the CountryWould some form of socialism be a good thing or a bad thing for the country as a whole?

The Roper/Fortune survey is one of the oldest trend questions measuring attitudes on socialism in the U.S. Gallup’s update of the question in an April 17-30 survey finds Americans more likely to have an opinion on the matter now, as well as a smaller gap in the percentage calling socialism a bad thing vs. a good thing.

Previous Gallup research shows that Americans’ definition of socialism has changed over the years, with nearly one in four now associating the concept with social equality and 17% associating it with the more classical definition of having some degree of government control over the means of production. A majority of Democrats have said they view socialism positively in Gallup polling since 2010, including 57% in the most recent measure in 2018.

  1. Absolutely! The AOC lady could send me half of her salary and then we’ll both have an equal amount of money to spend. Maybe Bernie could send me the keys to one of the three houses he owns so I can take a nice vacation there. The rest of the Dems in Congress could start sharing their wealth with strangers they encounter on the street – that would be so so social, don’tcha think.

Wow, this could be the start of a new America where everyone is poor, has no job, but is waiting, waiting for the government to print more money. oh. That’s what happened to other socialist countries, isn’t it.
    oh well.

  2. Your headline kinda perpetuates BS. 450 people out of a 1000 were not opposed to something they haven’t a clue about. After Hilldabeast’s polls proved to be absolutely false and wrong could we stop the nonsense of polling? and validating it… talk to a neighbor off the record and you may well find something quite different.

  3. As Milton Friedman said…”Put the socialist in charge of the Sahara Desert and there will be a shortage of sand in 5 years.”

  4. Yeah and 57 per cent of us DON’T. Reminds me ofhysterical weather announcers breathlessly exclaiming, “20 per cent of RAIN tomorrow.” Shades of Henny Penny – the sky is falling!

  5. Millennials make up about 25% of the population. They have been thoroughly brainwashed since (at least) high school with leftist ideology. Throw in the baby boomer hippies and the poll numbers are no surprise.

Like the Soviet Union and other countries they won’t realize how bad they have it until it is here. Then no one will have anything (“everybody is equal”) except the Democrat Party members.
