President Trump has backed away from trying to pass healthcare legislation with the current Congress. But he still wants Republicans to campaign on the issue.
And he’s right. If the GOP is not offering an alternative, they’re playing defense. Trump likes to play offense. Republicans have the right ideas on healthcare, and they have to explain why Democratic policies are killing our healthcare system.
According to the Washington Examiner:
President Trump said Tuesday Republicans “can’t run away from healthcare” as a political issue and must campaign on a comprehensive reform plan ahead of the 2020 election. “You’re going to win your elections because of healthcare,” Trump said during a dinner in Washington hosted by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
“We’re going to come up with a healthcare plan. We are not going to vote on it until after the election. We are all going to promise it’s going to be our first vote. Because we blew it the last time. Man, I was sold a bill of goods,” Trump said, referring to failed efforts to “repeal and replace” Obamacare.
