It’s incredible to me that reporters never learn to listen closely to the Clintons, both of whom are attorneys who speak carefully — and also liars.
It’s all over the press that Hillary Clinton is not going to run for president. However, that’s not what she said.
Here’s a typical report from Politico:
Hillary Clinton will not run for president in 2020, she told a New York TV station in an interview that aired Monday night.
“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” she said in an interview with News 12 in New York State.
Well of course she’s not running! Is she campaigning? Is she raising money for a campaign? I haven’t seen it, anyway.
But Monday very specifically DID NOT say that she WILL NOT run. She used the present tense, not the future tense, and she knew what she was doing.
Remember this? “There is not a sexual relationship.” Who said that? It was true there wasn’t — at the time he said it.
I don’t know what Hillary is thinking. I doubt she will run. But she may possibly get in if things seem “hopelessly divided” or if there is a brokered convention.
But at the moment, true enough, she isn’t running. Not right now.
