As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

“A Ten-Course Meal”: Democrats Savor Investigating Trump

Well, we knew this was coming, and now it’s here. Democrats will use their majority in the House, you know, maybe to pass some legislation, but mainly to investigate and bring down the duly elected president.

From an article I’m Jeff Bezos’s Washington Post, no doubt written with gleeful abandon:

House Democrats on Thursday made plans to dig deeper into President Trump’s business and charity, using testimony from former Trump attorney Michael Cohen as a road map to call new witnesses and seek new internal documents.

The House Intelligence Committee said it anticipates bringing in for questioning the Trump Organization’s chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg. It also plans to interview Felix Sater, a former Trump business associate who helped Trump develop a hotel in Manhattan.

The House Financial Services Committee said it would look into the Donald J. Trump Foundation, Trump’s charity. The Intelligence Committee expressed interest in Cohen’s comments on Russia. And Ways and Means Committee members again discussed the best way to obtain Trump’s tax returns.

“All you have to do is follow the transcript,” said Rep. Elijah E. Cummings(D-Md.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, which interviewed Cohen Wednesday. “If there were names that were mentioned, or records that were mentioned during the hearing, we want to take a look at all of that.”

“He set a very rich table,” Rep. Gerald E. Connolly (D-Va.) said of Cohen. “We’re now looking at a 10-course meal.”

They will start with all this. It’s not clear to me if they will have time to impeach Trump or if they think that could interfere with the 2020 presidential elections. But certainly they will impeach him if they retain control of the House in 2020 and Trump is reelected.

  1. How sad for all of us, Dem and Repub alike.

Impeach him for …being a ruthless businessman before he was POTUS isn’t an impeachable offense. Whatever crime they might uncover can’t be used to unseat MrTrump if it happened while he was in private life.

The tax returns. Oh geez. Ol’ Bernie doesn’t want to reveal his tax returns, and we can suppose that Bloomberg, Steyer, and every other multi-millionaire/billionaire won’t want to reveal their financial secrets, either.
TMI: as a thousandaire, I admit not understanding what H&R Block did with my tax returns every year or how they came to the final line. Form XXXX to form xxxx?
One can only imagine what technical/accounting mysteries are in MrTrump’s tax returns.
