  1. His grandson, Joe P. Bush, spoke. He heads up the Texas Land Commission. Appear he is being groomed for bigger things. He is Jeb’s son. Having his mother from Mexico should help him with the Latino vote. He is just 42 years old.

It was good to see the Oak Ridge Boys.

The train to Texas A & M reminds me of RFK’s funeral train.

  2. Of all the glowing remembrances of President Bush, all the talk of friendship, loyalty, etc, one thing I note that was left out. The loyalty he did not show the people who voted for him. He was the first candidate for president I was eligible to vote for and I pulled the lever for him in 88.

Sadly, I distinctly recall my grandfather being livid that Bush lied to him about the “no new taxes” pledge he broke. My grandfather, a lifelong republican, voted for Clinton in 1992 because George Bush lied to him. I sincerely hope the adulation of the democrats was worth the price he paid in letting down the people who supported him in 1988.

War hero, good man, good father, I get it. He got my vote twice. His son got my vote twice. I just hope future candidates can recognize his failure to the people who put him in office and not make the same mistake.

R.I.P. 41, thank you for your service

  3. The Democrats gave him no adulation—ever. And, he didn’t really lie. Things change in life and you adjust and do what you think is right at the time. The Democrats did not and do not now, like him. He lost Term 2 due to Ross Perot not because of Bill Clinton.
