Jeff Sessions Out as Attorney General

President Trump Wednesday announced via Twitter that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is being replaced by his own chief of staff, who will serve on a temporary basis.

Sessions himself made clear that he was fired.

“At your request, I am submitting my resignation,” he wrote in an undated letter to the president.

“Since the day I was honored to be sworn in as Attorney General of the United States, I came to work at the Department of Justice every day determined to do my duty and serve my country. I have done so to the best of my ability, working to support the fundamental legal processes that are the foundation of justice.”

At least one report says that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who supervises the Mueller investigation, will stay.

20 Responses to Jeff Sessions Out as Attorney General

  1. Jeff Sessions is a smart, honest, and courageous politician. He endorsed President Trump at great risk to his career.

I will miss him and wish him a great retirement with his family and friends.

  2. Sessions is coming home to the reddest of red states. He’ll be welcomed here. Chances are he’ll be running in ’20 for his old Senate seat, and take it back from the suet-faced interloper Jones who won with Soros money and DNC lies a-la Kavanaugh.

  3. Schumer and others Resistant Party members are concerned the new acting AG will interfere with the Mueller Witch Hunt. Schumer wants him to recluse himself. He is drawing a red line.

  4. I think I’ll vomit if I hear much more about anybody interfering with the sanctity of the Mueller “probe.”
Two solid years of nothing & Sessions was useless.
    Good riddance & way overdue.

  5. I know nothing about Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff, and whether or not he’d be a good one to replace Session, but I sure would like to see Trey Gowdy in that position!

    • Once, I would have agreed with you. Nobody talks a better game than Trey Gowdy and he’s a delight to listen to.

Unfortunately, the talk never led to any action. We need action.

      • And worse than that, Trey “full of lies” Gowdy kept spreading the bull that there are only a few “bad apples” in the FBI and the DoJ. When in fact those barrels are rotten to their very core. Going all the way back to at least Whitey Bulger.

Never forget that dear Mr. Gowdy helped pass the FISA renewal even though he knew full well how thoroughly it had been corrupted. Trey Gowdy as AG? No way in hell!
