As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

If Trump Sells 4.1 Percent Growth, Republicans Can Keep Congress

From an article I have running today on the NBC News website:

President Donald Trump made an unscheduled appearance on the White House South Lawn Friday morning, exactly one hour and 13 minutes after the Commerce Department announced the U.S. economy grew at the impressive rate of 4.1 percent in the second quarter.

“These are great numbers,” he said. “We’ve accomplished an economic turnaround of historic proportions.”

Sure, some of this was Trumpian hyperbole. But it’s a show he can take on the road to help preserve Republicans majorities in the House and the Senate this November. Because there’s enough substance in the numbers and in the nearly 3 percent growth rate for the five complete quarters he’s been president that a salesman as good as Trump can sell the success . . .

His 2016 election win was about a lot of things that aren’t always prominent, like immigration and cultural change. But according to the massive national exit poll, the economy was still the foremost issue in voters’ minds. Fully 52 percent named the economy as the “most important issue facing the country,” compared to only 18 percent who said terrorism, 13 percent who went with immigration and another 13 percent who chose foreign policy.

The thing you still need to sell in an election is the economy — and right now for Republicans, that’s looking like a pretty high-quality product.

  1. Maybe, just maybe the American people have finally woke up. Most people want to have a job, feed their kids and retire one day. They also aren’t in favor of pedophiles calling themselves door knobs to get into a bathroom with a young child. You can’t eat hope and change.

  2. IF, if he runs again, he will siphon off many of the Dem’s base – from the rank and file union members to the Hispanic voters who appreciate a good job.
In 2016, MrTrump was the only voice heard that didn’t try to make White Americans ashamed of their country and their race. The Dems never got that, never saw or even imagined that Americans were proud of what their country has done around the world to insure peace, even when it went sideways, and they didn’t understand that ordinary Americans did not feel responsible for Black slavery centuries ago.

It will be interesting. Very interesting.

  3. Boarder for the Base… Money for the Massess… Trump the showman and businessman will win bigly in 2018 and again in 2020.

When the opposition is about getting rid of ICE, gender whatever and similar ‘junk’ — they are lost.

Combo of Good Trump and Dumb Democrats. Win for Trump.

  4. Trump will continue to succeed because, basically, he’s concentrating on the most important needs of human beings… safety and security, i.e. financial security (jobs), personal safety (dealing with the jihadists, North Korea, China, etc.) The fanatic Democrats will continue to lose ground because they are too busy peddling weird rumors, outright lies, whispers, innuendo, fantastical, bizarre stories about Trump and his family. None of these Democrat talking points and issues address basic human needs, so they don’t register very well in people’s minds. We ignore them. The D’s are completely ignoring or mocking fundamental human needs. Obama was infamous in doing that.

In other words, Trump is applying Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (whether intentional or intuitively we don’t know) and that’s fundamental to gain human support and helped him win. Hillary ignored them and she lost. And Trump followed through brilliantly in those safety/security issues. Look at the current employment stats and the stock market, e.g. He did something and it works. His enemies are not paying attention to those issues and they will continue to lose elections and won’t be able to figure out why.

In a nutshell, Trump is applying Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in his administration. Absolutely brilliant. To give you insight on what I’m getting at, listen and watch carefully when Trump makes comments and decisions in light of Maslow’s idea and you’ll see what I am getting at. E.g. Trump’s theme of “Make America Great Again” speaks directly to our need for safety and security. And then he does things which address those needs and generally achieves his goals. People are noticing that.

For those not familiar with Maslow’s idea or haven’t read about it for awhile, here’s a little write up.

Sorry to carry on so long with this, but the idea just came to me earlier today and I’ve been thinking about it all day.
