Trump Cancels Summit with Kim Jong-un

Finally, we have a president who won’t be jerked around by the world’s petty dictators and tyrants.

President Trump Thursday canceled his planned June 12 summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Trump announced in a letter to Kim Jong-un released Thursday morning that the summit was off because of hostile statements by North Korea.

From the letter, which based on the language was clearly written by Trump himself, or with heavy input from the president.

Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting. Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place. You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.

Trump said the meeting could be rescheduled the meeting at some point.

I felt a wonderful dialogue was building up between you and me, and ultimately, it s only that dialogue that matters. Some day, I look very much forward to meeting you.

This is why Americans elected Trump. They were tired of weakness, tired of apologizing. Trump’s move appears to be a direct response to North Korea’s decision to insult Vice President Pence, calling him a “dummy” and “ignorant and stupid.”

This is a very positive development. For the first time, North Korea was playing the little bait and switch game it always plays and got called out. Nice guy, then bad guy. Make a deal, break a deal. Now they are confronted with a president who doesn’t put up with nonsense.

Ironically, this is the only chance for peace. North Korea needs to understand that we are deadly serious, or they will never give up their nukes.

What Trump voters understand is that, beyond the details of any particular negotiation, America’s posture matters. If you’re going to have peace through strength, you need show strength.

Trump has always shown strength. Just ask Jeb Bush. Now, if you could reach him, you could ask Kim Jong-un too.

There is a military option in North Korea, horrifying as it is. Actually, there are two military options. Under one option, they strike us first. Under the other, we strike them first. Take your pick.

  1. Well. Hmmph. OK.
Playing a hunch that PresTrump really, really wants this meeting to shore up his base, apply for the Nobel Peace Prize, and destroy his political enemies, all in one swoop, NoKo overplayed their hand and their bluff was called.
    ot: kinda
Y’know, maybe we should have been electing guys like The Donald all along instead of mealy-mouthed losers who promise Utopia and never deliver.

  2. That letter from Trump to Kim was a masterful balance of carrot and stick….. spanking and praising…

    Leaving the boy-king a way to make a meeting happen…..if he wants….

I bet that soon enough there will be a way for Kim to set a meeting and make the nukes go away (safely).
