Trump Slams Mueller: “No Questions on Collusion”

President Trump Tuesday morning in a pair of tweets slammed special prosecutor Robert Mueller for questions he is preparing for Trump, saying that they had nothing to do with Mueller’s original mandate, which was to investigate possible collusion by the Trump campaign with Russia. The questions were leaked to the New York Times.

That’s not exactly right. One question suggests that former campaign chief Paul Manafort sought help from the Russians: “What knowledge did you have of any outreach by your campaign, including by Paul Manafort, to Russia about potential assistance to the campaign?”

But Trump is mostly right. The questions mainly concern a potential coverup. It would seem the biggest issue related to that would be firing former FBI Director James Comey.

But Comey served at the pleasure of the president. How can getting rid of him be classified as a coverup? What’s more, Trump’s stated reason for firing him was that he would not publicly state that he wasn’t under investigation – which is true, Comey refused to do so.

Trump did suggest to the Russian ambassador that he had gotten rid of Comey to end the Russia investigation. But he also has a letter from the Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein saying Comey should go. Seems like a tough case to make against Trump, though no doubt the Democrats will impeach him if they take control of the House.

  1. Good grief, can we ever get past this Russia/Russia thing?
What in the world could have the Russians done to help MrTrump win the election is never explained. Provide vanishing ink for paper ballots like the ones we use in Arizona, hack election machines that aren’t connected to any Wi-Fi or networks, or what?

    Stop this whole thing, please.
