As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Poll: Stormy Affair Fails to Rain on Trump’s Poll Numbers

Okay, I know, enough with the “stormy” puns. Especially bad ones like the one above. But I couldn’t resist, okay?

From Politico:

Voters believe adult-film actress Stormy Daniels.

They believe her claim that she and Donald Trump had sex before he ran for president, and that Trump has been unfaithful to his wife. Only a third think the president is honest. More than half think he has low morals.

But a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, conducted after Daniels’ appearance on “60 Minutes” this weekend, suggests that despite that litany of sins, the Daniels revelations are unlikely to significantly alter Trump’s political standing.

The president’s approval rating — 42 percent in this week’s poll — remains largely unchanged from 44 percent last week. Fewer voters support beginning impeachment proceedings against Trump than last year. And voters are split on whether Trump should even answer Daniels’ assertions at all.

Taken together, the data suggest Trump’s past behavior with women is already known among voters — and many are willing to overlook it.

That’s exactly right. It’s the same thing that happened with Bill Clinton. Republicans assumed they had a political coup with the Monica Lewinsky case, which they assumed would finally disgust Americans and turn voters against him. Instead, as the impeachment proceedings loomed in November 1998, Democrats picked up five seats in the House.

Voters have either made their peace with Donald Trump or not, and they don’t need new information to understand who he is, even if Washington journalists fall into a frenzy over every salacious detail that emerges about his past.

  1. I don’t care. I dislike anyone having an improper relationship when married but we are surrounded by it with men and women alike. The standard response from those who do is to deny. The woman is only trying to pad her pocketbook. Most people also see through that. Shame on 60 minutes for all the hype and participating in gutter journalism.

  2. I just wish the MSM would stop calling it an “affair”. It was a one night stand and Wendy is absolutely right, I dislike it and Ms. Daniels is looking for a payday.

  3. We’re told via the MSM that the woman’s lawyer wants to depose the President under oath in response to a lawsuit he filed on behalf of the porn lady.
Professor Dershowitz advises the President not to testify in fear that if MrTrump denies whatever the porn lady claims to be true and there is some evidence to support her claim, he could be held for perjury.
perjury – the only impeachable charge the anti-Trump forces have now.
Uh, “professor” srdem offers this advice to MrTrump – tell the truth. We don’t care what happened a decade or so ago.

  4. Remember under Clinton, it was a private thing, between him and the old saddle bag, while he was in office. Now that it’s Trump, or any other Republican, out of office at the time mind you, it’s the worse thing to EVER happen. Ppl see through this charade.

  5. I’m unconvinced that it happened as she keeps changing her story and her eyes were very strange when interviewed.

However, the other one Karen McDougal is highly likely to be true. I read through her court papers for her lawsuit against the National Enquirer owners, and I’d be amazed if it wasn’t true. And that was a ten month affair. None of this should be a surprise to anyone though, as he has never made a secret of his love for the ladies and sex. So it should make no difference. How many in politics could stand this level of scrutiny?
