In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

White House Communications Director Hope Hicks is Resigning

According to the New York Times:

Hope Hicks, the White House communications director and one of President Trump’s longest-serving advisers, said Wednesday that she was resigning.

Ms. Hicks, 29, a former model who joined Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign without any experience in politics, became known as one of the few aides who understood his personality and style and could challenge the president to change his views.

Ms. Hicks had been considering leaving for several months. She told colleagues that she had accomplished what she felt she could with a job that made her one of the most powerful people in Washington, and that there would never be a perfect moment to leave, according to White House aides.

Her resignation came a day after she testified for eight hours before the House Intelligence Committee, telling the panel that in her job, she had occasionally been required to tell white lies but had never lied about anything connected to the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

So, it’s not quite clear why she is resigning. I doubt this is a good sign for the Trump White House.

Maybe it has something to do with the exit of her boyfriend – if she’s still dating him – Rob Porter, who left because of charges of domestic abuse. Maybe because of the Mueller investigation. Maybe because she’s the communications director and she just admitted telling lies. Or maybe it’s what a Fortune Cookie told her to do.

But this is very unusual.

  1. Maybe she just decided, “Who needs this crap?” The fanatic Lefties, much of the Congress, the corporate babbling media, the unions, and the institutional Democrats have declared war on the White House and show no indication of being fair, telling the truth or otherwise behaving like adults in the future. So….who needs it?

    1. I agree…and I wonder how many past WH Communications Directors have been hauled in front of a House Intelligence Committee to find out if they’ve ever told any white lies??

The Congressional Republicans are just as complicit as anyone in this charade…if they keep it up, we may end up with someone like Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama in the White House in 2020.

      The Horror.

  2. Somehow I thought Ms. Hicks was testifying behind closed door, not that means anything in Washington. So I was a bit amazed that every syllable that escaped her lips was front page news this morning. She is a smart and lovely lady and I hope she fares well in the future. With a name like Hope, she won’t be dismayed by all this wonkiness.

  3. The Battle of Bastogne, 1944. The American troops were surrounded by the Nazis. The Nazi commander demanded the Americans surrender.
The answer from the American commander -“Nuts”.
Now we have the Battle of the White House.
The POTUS is surrounded by the enemy. They demand that he resign. His answer…
Taking fire -that’s how combatants describe a fire fight and that’s what is going on with Trump’s White House. Taking fire from every one, in every direction.
Waiting for another “Patton” to come to their aid.
Good luck to MsHicks. Another casualty.

  4. So the white lies were basically saying that the boss was in a meeting when he wasn’t, if he didn’t want to speak to someone. And that’s about it. This is normal business behavior, prioritize time and who has access. The alternative? Polite version:
“Go away, he doesn’t want to see you”.
