  1. Well, congratulations, Mitch Iscariot McConnell. You got your wish.

Your threat to refuse to seat Roy Moore no doubt convinced enough Alabama voters that they’d be wasting their time showing up at the polls. So, Doug Jones won, just as you Beltway mandarins wanted.

But don’t even THINK of pinning this on Steve Bannon, Mitch. You own this result, lock, stock, and barrel. I hope you go down in history as the Philippe Pétain of the Republican Party. Eventually.

For now, though, congratulations. You got the result you wanted, for whatever good it will do you. Enjoy this victory, Mitch. Savor it. Soak it all in.

Because it’s going to be the very last win of your political career.

  2. If today’s candidate can be ruined by decades-old accusations without proof, the new generations of candidates will have all of their past misdeeds available from their FB, Twitter, etc accounts.
Anyone of a certain age will agree they would never consider doing today what they did in their youth, never. We all make mistakes and hopefully learn from them.
This Jones win isn’t about him or his agenda, it’s about how his opponent was ruined, his family shamed, and interfering big money.
