As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Trump Said Firing “Nut Job” Comey Took Pressure Off on Russia: NYTs

Donald Trump, in his private meetings with Russians May 10, appeared to suggest a link between firing former FBI Director Comey and trying to stop the FBI’s probe of alleged collusion between his campaign and the Russians.

From the New York Times report:

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”

The conversation, during a May 10 meeting — the day after he fired Mr. Comey — reinforces the notion that Mr. Trump dismissed him primarily because of the bureau’s investigation into possible collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer did not deny the account, offering this explanation:

“By grandstanding and politicizing the investigation into Russia’s actions, James Comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with Russia,” Mr. Spicer said. “The investigation would have always continued, and obviously, the termination of Comey would not have ended it. Once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations.”

The meeting included Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Ambassador Sergei Kislyak.

  1. Yeah? Well I have a document here in my hands that I’ll be glad to read to the NYTimes for publication.
My document is a verbatim account of MrsClinton telling PMPutin that she’ll be thrilled to send him some enriched uranium if he’ll send her a donation of $3million for the Clinton Foundation.
    Yep. Got it right here.

    • HaHa.
Shame the “media” never went crazy over that story…and the many other ‘corrupt’? thing the Clinton Foundation did…

  2. In other words, anonymous leaker calls Pravda on the Hudson to purportedly read from document which probably doesn’t even exist.

They aren’t even trying to fake it anymore.

And while I find the candor refreshing, in a twisted sort of way, the damage this is doing to our national identity is fast approaching incalculability.

  3. “…which was read to The New York Times by an American official.”

Okay, who is this “American official?”

Same old anonymous, leaked and inevitably made-up garbage…it’s something every other day now.

  4. Let them keep at it. Their stories are so trying to provoke a reaction from the lunatic left, whilst the rest of us go “meh”. This sort of “journalism” is on a par with the CNN ice cream fake outrage.

  5. The New York Times (and much of the rest of the corporate media) is obviously completely committed to the guidance of Joseph Goebbels in the matter of Russia’s “collaboration” with President Trump re the election. We all remember Goebbels’ rule of thumb when it came to misleading the German citizenry and enhancing the power of the dictatorship.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

We’ve read that statement 100 times.

But the whole paragraph from which that sentence is taken is the real eye popper. It reads as follows:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

We are in the middle of a massive propaganda war conducted by some members of Congress, the corporate media, deep state radicals working inside our government and political fund raisers of all stripes. If they are successful, we will be facing a modern day political coup, the overthrow of a legitimately elected President of the United States. That’s the goal of all their efforts.

And, yes, I am well aware of Godwin’s Law.

  6. Quoting the NYT is as believable a source as quoting CNNN or MSNBC or the scribbles on Toilet paper. In fact, the toilet paper is probably more believable.
It is way past time for the media to call a halt to the propagation of all these rumors and sources. From here on out, unless it comes out of President Trump’s mouth in public, I for one will stop giving a credence to any of it.
It is way past time for the witch hunt to end. It is time for any media source, even if it is an opinion piece, that seeks credibility to shout down and shut off this neverending BS.
Phrases such as : “it is suggested” “It appears” “sources say” belong in File 13, better still the incinerator.
As a former police officer, I am more than aware just how easy it is to manufacture and create whatever outcome one wants to get. The honesty of the material is solely dictated by the integrity of the person doing the investigating.
The Congress, Senate, majority of the media, the the FBI, justice department, and other agencies have lost their integrity. Those who pass along their swill are losing theirs.

  7. I don’t believe for a minute that Trump said anything wrong or incriminating. I hate to even comment on someones alleged ‘note-taking’ reported by an anonymous cowardly leaker but here goes… IF Trump said anything close to what’s alleged, you know how he talks. He starts another sentence before finishing the first. He doesn’t have any periods between his thoughts sometimes. Spicers statement was perfectly said and I believe thats EXACTLY what Trump would have meant if he said anything close to what’s being alleged. We all know Trump is doing everything he can to save America from the Nazi-left’s strange desire to follow Venezuela down the path of self-destruction, that his heart is as good as gold, and that if ANYONE else were EVER scrutinized, leaked on & inspected like President Trump is, they’d be in a pile of crumbs on the floor or in jail.

  8. These “comments” are based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office ( by whom ? ), circulated ( to whom ? ) and then leaked ( by whom ? ) to the globalist megaphone NYT, and this anti-Trump rag of course prints the thing.
These people ought to be ashamed, they are in a frenzy right now. They have declared war on the president and the voters whom elected him.
I think president Trump should counter with appointing a Special Counsel investigating the Hillary e-mails.

      • spot on! And McCain whispers in anyone’s ear who will listen: This is bigger than Watergate”. McCain is so demented with his dementia. Same goes for his sidekick who today said before the press, SMILING ABOUT IT, that its a criminal investigation, always anti-American these to, out to get a duly elected President wrongly removed. God will get these two for spreading their false stories to get even with Trump because he won and they lost, the losers and crybabies.

        • In trying to understand McCain’s long term peculiar political behavior, it’s important to know that McCain has been long associated with the notorious George Soros.

Soros has contributed a lot of money to get McCain re-elected over the years, and they have attended many high level strategy and policy meetings together in various parts of the world. They are more than mere acquaintances.

          Here’s an example.

          • Very, very interesting, Marcus, thanks a lot. Some “republican”, isn´t he ? Labels and parties doesn´t mean much anymore. It´s how they act , it is about globalisation and nationalism. McCain seems to be just another paid agent.

        • I’m upset with the fact that Trump is not fighting back hard enough! He can fire mule Muller and he can fire the Assistant to Sessions too, and he can also limit the scope of the investigation? So, why doesn’t he do something? Is Trump’s staff not knowledgeable enough? Is Sessions a coward that he’s got himself out of the investigation? Where is someone like Dershowitz who knows what to do??? I am very upset as this investigation is false, no crimes found and this Muller is part of the swamp, so I heard, if its true? and the whole investigation is created and manufactured and created by Soros, democrat communists, and all Cable TV hosts, etc. C’mon Trump fire all these people stated above. Why should Trump take the risk of them finding him guilty of a crime where there isn’t one? Someone has to wake up like Trump and do what you can do in your postion as President. The President has all these powers, why are they being ignored? Does Trump think that they will find no crime? He must be delusional if he thinks that. The swamp manufactured and created this fale narrative and investigation and several investigations, Trump must stop them or he will be gone. McCain is the biggest traitor there ever was, with Graham, they are anti-American in this investigations thingy. Trump do something within the scope of your powers. Go Dershowitz, get them to stop along with Trump. Where is Giulani, these days, is he mad at Trump? Trump could use his help, is he ammong the missing to help Trump? All these investigations are phony, created by evil anti-Americans who should never ever hold any office of the United States of America! The democratic socialist/communist party of the United States have nothing else going for them, so they are doing this out of desperation against Trump. They are so stupid, they think if Trump succeeds, they are gone forever, well guess what, they are gone, what American would vote for a socialist/communist regine? This is not a socialist country?

  9. getting real tired of all these leaks and alleged collusion that have no evidence backing it other than un-named sources. Trump can use the boy who cried wolf story all next election cause thats exactly what the dems are doing

  10. Maybe President Trump said this and maybe he didn’t, but the people around him should be more discreet.

Everyone expresses themselves in words — if that’s what he thought about Comey, fine.

I wonder if the White House staff — the cleaning people, servers, butler, etc., are the source of these leaks. The silent invisible person in the room might well be the chatting on the phone and getting some cash after hours.
