In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. Happy Easter, Happy Passover, and Happy Spring.

“We are the Easter People and Hallelujah is our song.” Pope John Paul II

“Easter People” always makes me smile and I can see Pope JP with his twinkly eyes, shy smile and his great love for the Lord and all his childen.

Happy Happy to you Keith and all WHD readers.

    1. I was part of a security detail assigned near the Cardinals residence when the Pope came to Chicago.
Having been part of many dignitary protection details I really had neutral feelings, seen one seen them all.
That is until I saw him.
There was just a glow about him, like a aura of light.
I turned my back on the crowd to catch a glimpse.
He was smiling and waving to the crowd and just for a moment I was a little afraid because I felt he was looking directly at me knowing at once all about me.
It was like confession without the confessional.
Only later did I realize that I had been in the presence of a man who would become a Saint.
Never told the story, to much emotion involved.
      Hope it made sense.

      1. Oh, that is beautiful. I respected Pope John Paul II very much. JP the first had a fleeting kiss as Pope. There are many saints among us here on earth. Seeing them is a reflection of our own in
tune-ness to the Light of the Holy Spirit.

        1. “The Light of the Holy Spirit”
I think and wonder what exactly did I see that day. Imaginary or real?
After all these years you summed it up in 6 words.
          Thks ZD.

          1. I’ve had my own run-ins with the unexplained. There were two such, which arguably saved my life.

And, paradoxically, I keep trying to prove to myself that neither one happened… and yet, I’m still alive, so they must have really happened.

            Or was it maybe…

            (You get the idea.)

      2. Thank you for sharing this. He was so special.

And perhaps one of the biggest reasons for me to be saddened at what person sits as Pope today.

  2. My dearest friends, I find great comfort in your replies.
Wonderful to be in the company of those who have faith and patriotism.
