In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Washington Post’s New Slogan: “Democracy Dies in Darkness”

Now this wouldn’t be directed at President Trump now would it? “Of course not!” claims the Post.

And they act surprised and appalled that people see bias in the media.

From the Washington Examiner:

The Washington Post denied Wednesday that its new slogan, “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” is a response to President Trump, who has called the collective news media an “enemy” of Americans.

The paper debuted its new slogan Tuesday night on its website, just below the masthead.

“This is actually something we’ve said internally for a long time in speaking about our mission,” Kris Coratti, a spokeswoman for the paper, told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday.

  1. This slogan is part of the paper’s “mission?” Shouldn’t its mission have something to do with objectively reporting the facts?

Not surprising, of course…but it’s interesting how these outlets don’t even try to hide their bias anymore.

  2. whoosh! as the new motto flies over my head.
    What?
Wait. Is that racist!? Are they implying that our democracy will die if America’s people become, gasp, dark? Oh noes!

  3. The circulation, revenues and reputation of the Washington Post have been declining for many, many years, since the days when they turned hard left.

Here is a circulation chart for the WP, as of 2013, the latest I can find. A sad story for them, and showing they have been in the darkness of phony journalism for many years now, and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. Hence their new motto.

    1. For some reason, they don’t have a paywall, or if they do, it doesn’t apply to me. dunno.
The NewYorkTimes has a big-ly paywall, so their loss.
Wall Street Journal won’t even let one see the headlines if you’re not paying.
      Foolish people.

      1. I wonder how lucrative those paywalls are for these newspapers. My gut says they are not likely much of a moneymaker for them. I’d pound nails into my head before I’d pay them a nickle to see what they are peddling for news.

  4. Trump Schedule “10:00 am || Receives his daily intelligence briefing”
Does this mean that someone is actually trying to instil some intelligence into this moron?
