Trump Trashes the Establishment as its Members Look on

He’s not afraid. He means business. Jeb, Marco, even Christie would have been polite.

From the Washington Examiner:

President Trump delivered a stinging rebuke to the Washington political establishment in his inaugural address on Friday, as establishment leaders sat all around him.

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost,” he declared.

As former President Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, his vanquished general election rival Hillary Clinton and other political luminaries looked on, Trump said, “we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.”

The lines received applause from the Trump supporters who gathered to see him sworn in while many of the dignitaries on the dais sat stone-faced.

  1. What a gentleman. He beautifully acknowledged the presence of his political rival, Hillary Clinton and her husband President Clinton. He said he had respect for them. I wonder if his AG will feel the same. They still are crooks.
I noticed, that although now president, he thoughtfully attempted to help the first lady into her seat at the table during the luncheon and did not take a seat until she was seated. Signs of a true gentleman, not to be mistaken for not being a strong man and leader.

    • Barron is very sweet, but he sometimes didn’t look too thrilled to be there. I imagine Rosie O’Donnell will be commenting on how “fidgety” Barron was, as if most 10 year olds wouldn’t be. The inaugural ceremonies would seem overwhelming to an adult. Barron handled himself well.

      • He’s done a great job hanging in there for such a long day, whereas the (older) Obama girls couldn’t even be bothered to sit through the Inauguration.

      • He appeared pretty tall for a ten year old. But then again I really don’t know about these things. And , on a good, day I am 5’1″ so tall is relative for sure.

        • I can empathize, grace. I’m 5’2″. Good things come in small packages!

Barron is very tall for a 10 year old, at 5’10”, according to what I read yesterday.

  2. I re-read the transcript, and still got goosebumps the second time. It was THAT good.

I’m not sure how much of that address was Trump’s, and how much was courtesy of his speechwriters, but HO. LEE. MACKEREL, that was one for the history books, for sure.

  3. The elites might not have liked it, but it was the truth.
Their health insurance is the best ever, they have a forever pension, and no worries.

  4. Everyone was on notice. No problem with that. He did not isolate Congress as a group. He merely included them as he should have.

But I have noticed how very very close Paul Ryan is with him these days. Like attached to the hip close. Hopefully Ryan is taking this seriously. McConnell, McCain, Rubio and Graham — those guys need a talking to.

He also signed some EOs today loosening some Obamacare regulations. Congress has no excuse not to get to work.

  5. A President that says in his speech that the country is being turned back to its citizens is deemed ‘dark’ by the lefty press.

Tells you all you need to know…
