In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

President Obama has no public schedule today.

  1. As to Obama’s “schedule”, if I may borrow and slightly modify Shakespeare’s words: Obama is but a walking shadow, a poor player, who struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; he is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

        1. Gotta’ agree with that “wishful thinking.”

Although I really hope that Poe’s Raven quote, “never more,” will be the harbinger for this miserable human being’s future.

With all of his shortcomings (Not nearly as many as the Obunglers) G.W. at least had the good sense and manners to not say anything about his successor’s failed policies.

          1. Jake and Ron…yes, you may well be right. Obama’s like a parrot we once owned. He would never shut up, even after you covered his cage with a cloth. Nothing he said made any sense, of course. He was just repeating some words he was taught to repeat. He had no clue what they meant. Just like Barry Obama.

  2. OT: Wash Ex headline story
“media prepares for war against Trump”
Once again, a new organizations pretend that they have been fair and honest in their coverage of MrTrump and his campaign, but find his reaction to their professional antics to be both unfair and without merit.
The same organizations that tried to torpedo his quest for the presidency with outrageous and obvious lies, with ridicule, and a most transparent promotion of MrsClinton, now wonders why the new President has taken a hard stance against the worst of them.
The MSM, the Dems, the ‘neverTrump’group, and all of the whining losers have the same freedom of speech rights as the rest of us, but must accept they reap what they have sown.

    1. So called msm has lost this reader/viewer.
I’ll watch broadcast tv for the first 5 minutes or so for breaking news, something burning, blown up, terrorist attack etc.
      Printed, never.
“If you don’t read the papers your uninformed, if you read the papers, your mis-informed”
      Mark Twain.
I think I’m pretty close to the exact quote.

  3. I am awaiting my husband while he has his appointment with his heart doctor. This place is huge. The list posted of medical staff as we entered was at least 50. There are about 100 waiting room chairs. People everywhere. TV playing away.

This heart facility is across the street from the same type facility for endocrinology. There are other medical office buildings, too, on Medical Center Drive, all tied into the one hospital in our area.

Big medicine. If we don’t like this practice, we have no where else to go.

We never had anything like this until Obamacare. No personalization. Nobody remembers anyone from last visit. Impersonalization.

I think this contributes to our feelings of isolation. I know we will never go back, but getting old(er) in this country can be intimidating. Who will watch out for us senior citizens? We are so vulnerable.

    1. That sounds so bad, I hope your hubby got quality care.
My friend just turned 65, now a Medicare dupe like the rest of us, and can’t find a doctor who is taking “new” Medicare patients who is closeby his home. He was advised to drive 35 miles to see someone, but he doesn’t feel confident driving that far in the big city.

We were sold down the river with Medicare. We paid into Medicare all our working lives (in addition to personal health insurance) only to find out that we will pay until the day we die.

  4. OT, but I’m on a tear about the members of Congress who are boycotting the Trump inauguration.

Here’s the list of the 19 who are boycotting:

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/14/politics/democrats-boycotting-donald-trump-inauguration/

Of these 19, 15 are members of the Democrat Socialist of America (DSA) coalition, sworn members of the Socialist International–79 percent of the boycotters.

Here’s the Socialist Democrats of America website, so you can see how they are not working for the interests of our Constitutional Republic:

    http://www.dsausa.org/

The notorious Communist Cornel West, BTW, is an honorary Chair of the DSA.

The boycotting members of Congress who are members of the Democrat Socialists of America are:

    Lucille Roybal-Allard
    John Lewis
    Keith Ellison
    Yvette Clarke
    Jerrold Nadler
    John Conyers
    Nydia Velazquez
    William Lacy Clay
    Barbara Lee
    Jose Serrano
    Luis Gutierrez
    Maxine Waters
    Chellie Pingree
    Steve Cohen
    Marcia Fudge

There may be others because my list is a little dated.

It’s a shame we have to do the job of the media to expose these hypocrites, but that’s where we are in these strange times.
