In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Trump Will Not Pursue Charges Against Hillary

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway this morning said that Donald Trump would not pursue charges against Hillary Clinton.

She also, as you can see in the clip below, suggested Trump wants Republicans in Congress to back off.

  1. Some of us will be upset with this, but it is the right thing to do for Trump, his incoming administration, and the country.

Better to be remembered as the President who focused on doing the work of the nation and getting it done.

We have a true chance to Make America Great Again, lets not muff it.

      1. After Ford pardoned Nixon he said 75% of his time was taken up by “the Nixon Issue”. He needed to work on his WIN program…Whip Inflation Now.

Trump has bigger problems to deal with.

        1. It was a controversial move at the time, to say the least, but the rational Ford gave for the Nixon pardon for any crimes Nixon MIGHT (to use Ford’s word) have committed against the United States while President was that he felt the pardon was in the best interests of the country, and that the Nixon family’s situation was …..

“….a tragedy in which we all have played a part. It could go on and on and on, or someone must write the end to it. I have concluded that only I can do that, and if I can, I must.”

So, to end the Watergate story, as well as the bitter divisions in the country over Watergate, Ford bit the bullet and issued the unconditional pardon. The pardon was likely one of the factors which cost Ford the Presidency when he did run for President against Carter in 1976, but he likely knew it would be when he issued the pardon.

          1. I was very young when President Ford took office, but I always admired him. Up until the day he died, he seemed a genuinely good man. I didn’t remember his statement about the pardon. Thank you for including that.

    1. Investigating a career criminal, who has used her positions in government for personal enrichment, isn’t “muffing it”, by a longshot. Trump should never have whipped his supporters into a frenzy at rallies with the chant of “Lock her up” if he was only going to relent.

        1. Exactly, pursuing Hillary or not is on the AG not the president. Unless Trump tries to be an Imperial president like Obama the AG makes that call.

        2. Yeah, and that’s why I thought it inappropriate for Kelly Conway to assert that any Republicans wanting to pursue Clinton were acting out of line.

    2. How about the families of those murdered in Benghazi? How will this help them heal — to see the Clintons walk away without paying for any of their misdeeds?

      1. Obama was just as guilty of letting them die as Hillary was, perhaps more so.
He also lied to the parents over the coffins and then sent Susan Rice out to lie to the American People on the news shows.

          1. As much as I hate the idea of waiting to get them both, I’ve sadly got to agree. Obama has made a mess out of everything, there’s too much to be done. Maybe God’s justice will have to suffice.

  2. Not sure what I think about this. It would seem that Hillary’s Clinton’s crimes should be judged in areas where it is proven she broke the law, especially national security. And certainly there are those on her staff who colluded.

I also hope the FBI continues in its very legitimate investigation of the Clinton Foundation.

Or perhaps Trump will only pursue those avenues where Obama administration officials are involved.

      1. Well I was never a Trump supporter, but I did vote for him for two reasons.
        1. He wasn’t Hillary
        2. He said he would hire a special prosecutor

So, yes I’m upset. We can’t trust Comey. Remember how we heard from Rudy how the FBI was basically in revolt because of Comey’s decision in July?

I’m starting to believe (again) that Hillary got Trump to run as her straw man for an easy win, only it didn’t turn out the way she planned.

I have another perspective in why he is backing off of Hillary. It’s to win over her voters, but I’m still leaning toward the straw man theory.

    1. gracepc,
I agree whole heartedly she should be charged and jailed over her crimes, but look how the FBI flip flopped the first two times! The Clinton’s have been getting away with crimes for many years. I’m not sure Trump can even do anything to change that. Maybe he is letting the dust settle for now and then will move in later. Wishful thinking..

    1. Agree Vet.
      Hit ’em in the pocketbook.
If Hillary was ever tried and convicted, she does a little time, maybe suspended sentence but still keeps the loot.
To me the millions in the Foundation is the real catch.

  3. I disagree with this decision.

The magnitude of the crimes committed by the Clintons, coupled with the other bad fish that will be swept up in the net, begs for justice to be done by at least a full investigation. To say we should just let these crimes fall by the wayside is not only deranged and delusional, it also feeds the very beast we have to crush now, while we can, which is progressivism.

This decision to not investigate is also a slap in the face of every American concerned with corruption in government.

Believe it or not, we can simultaneously investigate criminals and MAGA. Yeah.

  4. It’s not up to him. There’s an ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation by the FBI and the results will go into the hands of the head of the DOJ for the decision of whether or not to prosecute.

Perhaps Trump is trying to head off an Obama pardon.

Hillary is NOT the former enemy to whom Trump needs to show graciousness.

    1. Agree Anonna.
Now that Hillary has essentially been removed from any possibility of further potential breaches of security, they should concentrate on the ongoing foundation investigations.
I doubt whether Jim Comey will be allowed to ignore the findings of the bureau under the new DoJ.

    2. Trump won’t use his AG,FBI and DoJ as his personal political tool, he’ll them do their jobs on behalf of the people.

He’s playing rope-a-dope with the media, politicians and the Clintons :)

  5. Trump might not go after Clinton. But FBI has ongoing investigations against the “foundation” which will, if charges are laid, will likely include Bill and Hillary…..and more.

  6. Perhaps I’m missing something here, but doesn’t the accused have to be charged before there’s any question of a pardon or jail time?

A version of cart before horse?

  7. Trump supporter Flyover Bob

Crime doesn’t pay, and shouldn’t here. I agree with Anonna. The process to justice isn’t complete here—Foundation, Benghazi, etc.

Let the investigations lead to conclusions, whatever they may be.

Let the FBI and DOJ do their jobs without interference from the top, especially politically motivated interference as has been the case for 8 years.

  8. Hillary’s not off the hook yet. As others note here, the Congress, the DOJ and the FBI can certainly can pursue Hillary’s role in the Foundation, the security breaches in her email caper and her role in the Benghazi affair as well as other matters. The story’s not over yet. It appears Trump is concentrating on larger, national and international matters.

  9. “She’s been through enough” is hardly a valid reason to back off. But as a “former” NY Liberal Democrat, Trump vigorously supported this woman and most likely – still does. He never expected to win the election, and now his true colors come out.

No mention of ‘the wall’, ‘deportations’, or repealing ObamaCare appeared in his 2 minute You Tube video yesterday.

He did, however, slay the dragon-lady, and for that I am grateful.

    1. He is working to look friendly….and he will get those 3 big things done….Just trying to get enough cred so he can make it all happen.

      I have faith….

      1. Agreed, Mark Schlender. President Trump got where he is by not “going with the flow”, and I trust him to get done everything he has committed to do.

I also have faith in God, Who put Donald Trump into this remarkable position that frees the American people to restore our land.

I also agree with those who point out it is up to FBI & DoJ to decide on prosecuting Americans. Unlike Obama, President Trump will not interfere with lawful & ethical process of law.

The American People have delivered our own lawful justice against Hillary “What difference does it make” Clinton on November 8, 2016. Hillary Rodham Clinton no longer makes a difference anywhere. She will never be President, she will never have power over American lives again. The Gold Star families and brothers-in-arms of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, IT officer Sean Smith, former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods and former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty have the knowledge that the Citizens of America passed judgment on their killer, and have turned our backs to her. Erase her name – remember theirs.

        1. MT for re-redistribution

I too always felt the Benghazi failure was her worst moment. I think it would be good for the country in many ways to see her behind bars.

    2. After the double Comey Comicon that our government has just put us through over the emails and the foundation, I had pretty much decided that Hilary and Bubba would never see the inside of a jail cell. I still think that.
However, I am ecstatic that they (she especially)have been publicly humiliated and rebuked by the America voters. That is enough for me as long as they stay off the political scene.
This crazy nonsense of them trying to groom Chelsea for a run, is utter stupidity. The girl is as thick as two planks. But, if they want to continue the public humiliation, by all means, let her loose.
Also, isn’t it the FBI and DOJ that would bring charges? Not the president? So this is kind of a throw away to say he won’t pursue charges.
And by him saying he won’t pursue charges, he dilutes any accusations of persecution of poor wittle Hilary.

  10. Some day Hillary and Bill and Obama and ALL of us will stand in front of the most High Judge of all. When that happens not one of us or them will have the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, DOJ, or any personal attorney present. It will be one on one with the great God Almighty and there will be no lying, deceiving, bribe giving and taking. Justice will be served. This is what gets me through when I see injustice in the world.

  11. On one hand, I can understand. Moving forward, etc.

On the other, people have gone to prison for less.

Since following the law is now officially for chumps, I’ll act accordingly.

  12. Trump reminds me of a chess player who can have a dozen question marks on his game notation, and still get to mate without his opponent having enough sense to resign.

He’s already shown a knack for thinking a few steps ahead, and some of his tactical “mistakes” have turned out to be strategically brilliant.

The elephant in the room, lest we forget, is Obama, and his pardon pen. Switching from chess to contract bridge, trying to hit Hillary with cri inal charges, with Obama ready to issue a blanket pardon at the slightest hint of the same, is like trying to finesse the king of trumps on the way to bringing home a redoubled grand slam bid.

What Trump may be doing here, is implicitly warning off Obama: you pardon Hillary, we’ll have her turn state’s evidence against you, and you can forget about ever playing golf again. If Obama pardons her, he’s toast, and he knows it. If he lets her be, he might get away unscathed… or so Trump wants him to believe.

Look at the entire board, not just one square.

    1. I don’t see why HRC would turn states evidence against Obama if she is pardoned by him. Not that the snake would have anything against biting the hand that feeds her, but what would be in it for her?

      1. Two things.

Number one, revenge: the Clintons and Obamas don’t like each other, and Hillary has Obama to “thank” for both beating her in ’08, and poisoning the well in ’16. He’s the biggest reason she’ll never be president, and don’t think she doesn’t know it. And if she can’t order an Arkancide on the guy, next best solution would be to put Jugears away for a long, long time.

As an added bonus, she’d get a boost in public perception if she does that: “Okay, she was a liar, but wow, that Obama guy was so much worse, at least she was honest enough to show us THAT much,” etc., etc. So, payback and some image rehab. That’s one.

Number two, maintaining the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed. She has zero marketable job skills, and the only way she could keep the millions coming, was by influence-peddling and taking out markers on her “inevitability.” Well, whoopsy-daisy: now she’s got no more influence to peddle. Republicans have wanted her out of the game for decades, and I doubt she’ll long command much loyalty from Democrats, who will blame her for all things Trump.

Again, all those markers she took out on winning the White House are going to be called in, and no one’s going to pay a million bucks a pop to listen to her talk. Even Bill’s income is bound to take a hit here: now that he can no longer be the “might be future First Gentleman”, he’s reduced to marketing himself as a “has been president.” Not such a hot ticket now, is he? So they’ll be making less, and in trying to groom Chelsea to maintain the dynasty, they’ll make mistakes with their shrinking resources.

So, knowing all that, Trump’s AG could give Hillary a courtesy call and say, Hey, if you were to help us put Obama away for good, well, there are ways a grateful nation could thank you for your cooperation.

So, if she turns on Obama after he pardons her, she’d get her revenge (for sure), a bit of public rehab (highly likely), and perhaps even a bit of a sweetener (not impossible). If she takes the pardon and slinks away, she may not rot in prison, but she’ll have to live out her days at the mercy of the deplorables, and watch Obama gird for some future comeback.

        It’d be a no-brainer for her, I should think.

  13. “Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, VENGEANCE IS MINE, I will repay, says the Lord.” Rom 12:19
“The lord is slow in anger, and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.” Nahum 1:3

Good advice would be, don’t find yourself standing close to a Clinton during a storm..

    1. Yes, good advice.
May I also include this verse for the pedophiles:
“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.”
      Mark 9:42 KJV

  14. This is so wrong…….. First….I agree she shouldn’t be prosecuted. I believe she should be investigated by an Independent Counsel and based upon their findings she should be cleared or prosecuted.

Everyone keeps invoking the Ford/Nixon pardon. There is a HUGE difference Nixon Resigned and that was his penalty for breaking the law. It may be found she took bribes for the money obtained at the Clinton Foundation from other nations for her actions while SOS. If so, that is Treason!

The fact is if you don’t prosecute her she is going to come out and say she was innocent and the Republicans in Congress were on a political witch hunt…….this nothing but Pre-Prosecutorial Discretion. Stay out of it President Elect Trump let the Independent Counsel and a Grand Jury do their job and return the Justice System back to Pre-Obama days.
