From a piece I have running today in Lifezette:
President Obama famously snarked that he didn’t need Congress so much because, “I’ve got a pen, and I’ve got a phone.” That is, he could use his pen to issue executive orders and phone up leftist activists and groups to back his agenda, circumventing the will of the peoples’ elected representatives.
But with Donald Trump’s election as president, Obama’s pen has been turned into a pencil, and it’s got an eraser. Whatever the current president decrees between now and Jan. 20 can be rolled back on Jan. 21 by the next president.
But even though he is partially defanged, Obama can still do lots of damage. Make no mistake — he is still the president, and this petty, prickly president is undoubtedly very angry and intent on doing as much to preserve his deeply imperiled legacy as possible. He is a man with nothing to lose politically. And that could be a very dangerous thing for the Republic.

Before I consider the real harm the partially defanged, and bitter Obama can do to this country, I would like to say that it will be a real pleasure to see Melania Trump at the Inaugural Ball(s). She and Donald will look amazing. What a change. So I’m going to hold on to that while Obama continues to hack away at America.
What a scary scenario. MrObama certainly can do all manner of harm before it’s all over.
He might want to rethink that residence in DC after he leaves office – not many people will be looking to him for advice or help after Jan 20th.
Not necessarily. 3/4s of the way through or so, you will notice a discussion of the Democratic Party in exile under Obama and whether it will be at Obama’s new domicle or he will go further out of WDC.
This is a casual mention in a poorly presented article imo but there will be a party in exile and Obama will lead it. Vladimir Lenin did a heck of a lot of damage from exile. And then there was the revolution.
I don’t think Obama is finished with us yet. He is too vindictive and power hungry. And he is a relatively young man as politics go.

And his zombie supporters who are out there protesting for what I do not know…..are just as petty and prickly and childish as he is; he has taught them well. They refuse to accept Trump as the President, he trounced Hildebeast fair and square. But that is the left for you, they through tantrums and rage like children when they do not get their way. Everyone at my job is like someone died and they assume I a am also a Hildebeast supporter. I tell them straight up…you want me to be upset that a corrupt old money grubbing wind bag did not win and is now resting up on her NY estate? You have to be kidding me. Let them keep protesting, because I am here to tell them that there are 0 jobs except at starbucks for people with Humanities, gender studies, political science and anthropology degrees, so it is going to be a looooooong 4 years for them.
“Hopes of reviving the FBI email investigation and the agency’s ongoing probe of Clinton Foundation will be killed off.” No, the Congress can still investigate for the sake of exposing the truth and that would be worthwhile.
“The Democrats no longer have any reason to pretend that Clinton didn’t violate the law and that investigations may find much more wrongdoing.” Again, a good reason to expose the truth.
Obama never saw the gov’t as anything but a game to be played as a tool. No surprise if he uses it now as a shield for himself.
Something no one writes about is that Obama admin had a court case in which they argued that emails housed on a nongov’t server system were not subject to FOIA requests. Was Clinton going to be the high-level case?
Did Obama realize Clinton was doing Foundation biz on her computer? Did he realize she was deliberately violating the iron wall she had said would separate her Sec of State work from the Foundation? Did he care?
Yeah. I didn’t trust all those kind words that both Obama and Clinton were saying. They are not defanged, only trying to figure out a new way of doing. In fact, since they are such plotters and planners, they probably already have it figured out.
They’ve got plenty of company: Demos and Daily Kos are already pushing outright revolution and obstruction to everything Trump does.
Prager U has an interesting graphic of future elections based on the voting of 18-25 year olds this year: Democrats: 504 electoral votes, Republicans: 23.

I work for a university and I can tell you…they are all as dumb as a box of bricks and all want to be in Liberal Arts; they have no job or skill or career prospects
Good article Keith. Wow. The next two months and 11 days. Heck, Obama can build a whole Banana Republic — but we can tear it down. And even if there is an overflow, invasion of refugees and illegals — if we get our act together all those entering the country after 11/8/2016 can be deported ASAP . And I don’t care if it is by pen, phone or pencil.
I am not advocating illegal use of EOs like Obama. But Trump is entitled to use it for certain circumstances. No compunction from me on that. Cleaning up this mess will be a big task.
And yep, pardon largely because it Obama is in the mix.
I’d say given the glacial pace at which he normally moves, he might wanna hurry up if he wants to do any lasting damage.

I will enjoy watching the piece where Trump calls on the President for the ride over to the inauguration — hoping and predicting an over the top tophat — and then want to see where after the inauguration Mr. Obama rides in a car stripped of all logo items…
He arrives as POTUS and leaves as ‘just’ a citizen. While I know he will get $1M a speech I still know that he will have no power. It gives me joy.

Great piece Keith, some good insight. While 2 months, 11 days seems short for normal people, it’s an eternity of destruction when it comes to Obama.
here’s the thing. What good do all these protests do? The guy was rightfully elected. It wasn’t even a close race.
Do all the protestors think they are going to run DT out of office? Is that what we did when we didn’t like Special Barack being elected? No. We manned up and suffered under his destructive rule for 8 long years.
We didn’t act like reprehensible and deplorable morons, crying like 2 year olds because we didn’t get our way.
For crying out loud; they’re just being consistent. They cried when Obama was elected, now they’re crying with the election of Trump.
BTW: Does anyone recall roads and freeways being shut down by “1st Amendment Exercisers” before Obama?
