In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

    1. Also of interest – a list of Clinton’s upcoming fund raising events with date, what it is and speakers. In what looked to be about a month’s worth of appts. Hillary will actually attend only three or four. Chelsea, Bill and various delusional movie and TV stars will be subbing for her.

      1. It’s so odd. She is hardly campaigning at all compared to Obummer’s events in 2008 and 2012. I still can’t believe she doesn’t even have rallies. She simply goes to small events with 200 to 300 people a couple of times a week.

  1. Trump and Ivanka news:

Donald, Ivanka Trump fundraising in Illinois Wednesday

Donald Trump’s Illinois Trump finance crew said in an invite he will headline a south suburban Bolingbrook fundraiser on Wednesday also featuring his daughter, Ivanka.

I reported on Aug. 30 that Trump was hitting Bolingbrook for a Sept. 12 event; that was cancelled. According to the invite for the Wednesday funder, Trump and Ivanka hit the Bolingbrook Golf Club for a lunch.

Tickets start at $1,000 per person; the tab is $10,000 per person for the photo-op.

The host committee includes Ron Gidwitz; former Bears Coach Mike Ditka and his wife, Diane; Cubs board member Todd Ricketts, who is also leading a pro-Trump Super PAC; Rep. Darin LaHood; Rep. John Shimkus and Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar.

Later on Wednesday, Ivanka heads to the Chicago home of Bill and Shelley Farley in Chicago for an event with Dikta. The price ranges from $500 a person to $10,000 which includes a photo-op.

Ivanka is the draw at breakfast Wednesday in downstate Quincy, Ill.

This will be first time Trump has been in Illinois since July 12, when he headlined a fundraiser at his Trump International Hotel and Tower at 401 N. Wabash in Chicago. Trump was in Chicago the Friday before the March 15 Illinois primary, but he never surfaced publicly because he canceled a rally at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion when protests erupted.
