In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Supreme Court Sinks Obama Immigration Order

The Supreme Court by a 4-4 tie let stand lower courts’ decisions saying President Obama lacked the authority to grant legal status to the parents of so-called “Dreamers,” who were brought to the United States as children.

Obama’s order could have given status to as many as five million people who came here illegally. Turns out Obama was also acting illegally. It was an obvious attempt to create legislation by fiat, though remarkably, four members of the Supreme Court don’t seem to get it.

From the Associated Press:

A tie vote by the Supreme Court is blocking President Barack Obama’s immigration plan that sought to shield millions living in the U.S. illegally from deportation.

The justices’ one-sentence opinion on Thursday effectively kills the plan for the duration of Obama’s presidency.

A tie vote sets no national precedent but leaves in place the ruling by the lower court. In this case, the federal appeals court in New Orleans said the Obama administration lacked the authority to shield up to 4 million immigrants from deportation and make them eligible for work permits without approval from Congress.

Texas led 26 Republican-dominated states in challenging the program Obama announced in November 2014. Congressional Republicans also backed the states’ lawsuit.

“Today, Article I of the Constitution was vindicated,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said in a statement. “The Supreme Court’s ruling makes the president’s executive action on immigration null and void. The Constitution is clear: The president is not permitted to write laws—only Congress is. This is another major victory in our fight to restore the separation of powers.”

But Hillary wasn’t happy.

“Today’s deadlocked decision from the Supreme Court is unacceptable, and show us all just how high the stakes are in this election,” she said. “Today’s decision by the Supreme Court is purely procedural and casts no doubt on the fact that DAPA and DACA are entirely within the President’s legal authority.”

    1. We can only hope that it is.
A deadlocked SC is a good thing in this instance.

If Hillary is elected, the SC will be leftist for generations.
The lifetime tenures should not be allowed IMO.

      1. There should be no life time tenures in any job that receives government funds. That includes federally funded schools. And Congress should be term limited.

  1. This is another major victory in our fight to restore the separation of powers.”

Umm, what fight exactly did you and the Republicans put up Paulie? By the skin of our teeth we lucked out on this.

Hillary gets in and it’s Bienvenido and whatever the word for Welcome is in Arabic. No matter. Soon the sounds of Allah Akbar and the call to prayer will ring out across the land.

A small victory nonetheless. We have few — so claim it.

  2. Since when has any law or UnSupreme Court ruling that Dictator Imam Obama doesn’t like or agree with ever stopped him from going right ahead with his communist/Islamic agenda of destroying the United States of America and imposing a iron fisted totalitarian rule over this country.

He will consider this no more than a momentary annoyance and will proceed with once again breaking the law in order to achieve his ends.

  3. The 4 justices who voted with the President should be ashamed. The Supreme Court is supposed to transcend partisanship. Every child knows (or used to) that the Congress, not the executive office, makes the laws. It’s very simple.

  4. Supreme Court rulings will not stop the Obamas and Clintons will keep up there quest to ruin America no matter what rulings go against them. Obama should be impeached for his UnAmerican activities and Clinton should not be allowed to run for President as she deleted 33,000 government e-mails purposely and lied about it and lied about many things, including Benghazi, when she refused to send help to the Ambassador when he begged and begged and begged hundreds of times for it and then he was murdered. Why did she refuse to help him is the question? Awfully suspicious and shows you the depth of her calculating coldness to not help him when he begged for help and more security?
