In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. Read this op/ed which my local paper sadly felt was worthy of the prime spot today:

It’s all about a couple of former WH counsels, Iowa’s Attorney General and director of Drake law center bashing Chuck Grassley & Repubs for not caving to Obama on Scalia’s replacement.

Miller, the Attorney General goes so far to say the Repubs are effectively “de facto amending the Constitution” and another decried will do “huge damage”.

The author touts the panels “unanimous” views that should “scare any self-respecting and/or patriotic U.S. citizen.

    Yet here’s the author’s bio:

Rekha Basu, is a Des Moines Register opinion columnist with a focus on human rights and social justice.

And to top it of Miller is a Democrat and the sponsoring group is an avowed progressive legal organization.

Basu paints all the participants as “experts” and “scholars” yet nowhere did I see any mention of their historical knowledge that there is no Constitutional requirement for 9 on the Supreme Court and over time there have been many smaller numbers.

And this is what get’s distributed nationally as “informed” commentary. UGH!

    1. they control the minds of the moron voters. The Tribe owns all the media!

They chose what the FSA (free stuff army) will see and how they should think. PC is the doom of this country.

        1. To bad star is clueless

          1. My pt on all this is so what? They are all white, too–again, so what? And male? What is your point? Why single out their religion? Or supposed religion?

  2. Here is a feel good story. As some of you might know I reside in Panama. During the 2012 election I would telephone my sister in Florida. I would close the call with “vote for Romney”. Finally on one call she got hot and said “You go ahead and vote for Romney. I am going to vote for Obama and you are not going to change my mind.” I went back to saying Goodbye. This last week I received an email from her. She wrote, “Everything you said about Obama and family has come about. I am going to register Republican and vote for Trump even though I don’t like his speaking first before thinking”.

The first of April I stopped watching all the political stuff going on. I do not watch the talking heads on TV. I am doing other stuff. I watch baseball. I follow the Texas Rangers. I watch You Tube movies and some old radio programs from the 40s, 50s and 60s. I still get exposed by the headlines but I just keep moving on.

    1. For once, I am the opposite–on the same page with some relatives and friends who are disgusted by Trump–and for 8 yrs, I could not speak to these people, not they with me, because I was disgusted with Obama.

        1. Nope–not buying into that one anymore. I have to follow my conscience–and neither is fit, in my opinion. If she wins, she wins–we will take her case by case on this site, if it continues to exist. I am with Mitt–write in, Libertarian, or File 13 for the whole ballot.

        2. No matter what, we can not have Hillary. Too much is at stake. Think 1-3 Supreme Court Justices in the first term. We cannot let Hillary appoint those Justices. The stakes are simply too high.
Hold your nose, like me, and vote Trump.

          1. No Hildabeast!
