  1. By the way, has Barry bothered to release a statement about the six American soldiers killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan yesterday? I know the White House was concerned yesterday with putting out a statement about his upcoming appearance on Jerry Seinfeld’s dopey web show. But, anything on our six killed soldiers?

If some black “teen” happened to be shot by white cops, I’m sure Barry would have made a statement in front of cameras yesterday. But, six dead soldiers…. nothing.

      • No Harv, he won’t/can’t.
Stat’s for Chicago shootings are 79.7% of victims are black, while 71.2% of shooter’s are black.
He’d be embarrassed, if that’s possible.
This weekend mayhem, FRI 12/18 to SUN 12/20, 3 killed, 27 wounded.
Why should he care, he’s golfing.

        • And why does NO ONE in this “WH press corps” EVER mention Chicago black-on-black ghetto violence when the WH goes off on gun violence…?
Its a simple question to ask since they claim Chicago is Obama’s “hometown”.

      • reply to L.Spook:
It’s not just that there are so many shootings in Chicago, or that so many Black people are killed or injured, it’s that Chicago is a “gun-free” zone.
If they were really serious about gun control, the police would make a concerted effort to, um, un-gun every thug in every area.

    • I have to admit, I missed this in yesterday’s news cycle.

My business partner – an uberliberal – came into my office a few minutes ago to gleefully inform me that our president is going to guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s usually enjoyable streaming-only show on Crackle. (Of which I have only missed one episode, the one featuring Bill Maher, for obvious reasons.)

What a narcissist. Does Obama know of the marketing peril of “watering down your brand?” Was the survival
      show not enough?

Is there nothing else going on in this man’s world, entrusted with the well-being and quality of life of 320 Million people, that he has time to film cable and streaming reality shows? It’s almost beyond parody.

Hugo Chavez used to host a three-hour Saturday evening show, shown on every network, that was basically him talking to a hand-picked audience about how awesomely awesome he was. There’s a year left in the Obama presidency. We are not out of the woods yet.

    • He demonstrated his concern the way he always does after Americans are killed by terrorists — inside or outside — the country. He plays golf.

Anyone who thinks Barack Obama has any intention of protecting Americans or America is a fool.

If America were attacked while he was vacationing I am not convinced he would return to the mainland or even comment in a timely manner. But I think Josh’s holiday stand in or some jerk spokesperson at State or the Pentagon would assure us of his “concern” and caution us to not over react.

I wish he would just shut up, play golf and do whatever the Obamas do on these extravagant vacations.

        • Not sure about the toadies and flacks, but the man himself would end his brief statement with:

“…not rest until justice is done. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m late for my tee time.”

      • Didja see him all crunched down and woebegone talking to NPR about how Americans are so deluded on random terror, so grievously uniformed and spun up by “cable.” Like no one in the country went to college …worked a job 40 yrs..supported a family…paid bills…wrote checks…worried about their kids and grandkids, laid awake for hours fretting over money, safety, stupid family tricks, health issues and then answered a pollster’s call asking would the following candidate be an embarrassment as president. Did we have THAT question in the past…?

      • He is disgusting and the local media is slobbering over his hike and golf.I really don’t want to travel over Christmas but I’m outta here for few days to fly over land.Even if it’s only 20 degrees.

  2. As we talk about the miscreants in the Congress, the thick-headed Obama’s antics, the general malaise in our government which is screwing us each and every day, and how we are “mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore,” we can remember what the citizens of Iceland did in 2012: They threw the bums out. The whole lot of them–the Parliament, the bankers, and the the greedy parasites who were getting rich living off their government connections.

They did it peacefully, but the citizens meant business. Here’s the story if you missed it:

US Media barely covered the event. Congress didn’t talk about it. Political gurus put their fingers in their ears and went LA LA LA LA LA.

    Just interesting.

  3. The dumb ass Obama sends a culturally offensive gay Ambassador to the Catholic Christian DR. And a cardinal has been giving as good as he has gotten. Now Sen Durbin, as a US Senator, feels he has the right to appeal to the Vatican in defense of his “friend” the Ambassador.

Democrats. Obama Democrats. If they could even spell diplomacy it would be a start.

I remember when the Ambassadors were being vetted — many of them knew nothing of their countries assigned, could not speak the language (not that big a deal), had never been to their countries and it is likely they couldn’t find them on a map.

But alas my money is on both the Pope and Obama calling out the Cardinal.

Merry Christmas. He’s the reason for the season. Dems have their way — next year Jesus will be gay, then transgender —

    • WAPO retracted — weak tea. Poor excuse. Also seems to suggest that he could understand why the cartoonist did this. BS.

And it was pointed out at Ace that the Bush twins and the Palin children were fair game and nothing was said when Obama used his children in this ad.

But just check out Obama’s Most Famous, Costliest Ad from minute 19 to 20. And take my advice to to 19 – 20 the rest will just make you sick.

When all is said and done all children should be off limits including the Obama’s even when Malia goes to Hollywood and hangs out with the morally repulsive Lena Dunham — I am sure an Obama family BFF. The media had no problem protecting that.

It’s the hypocrisy that is so disturbing — we are losing our freedom of speech and the media is ignoring facts or lying. Sad state of affairs.

      • I watched for about five minutes before skipping over to minute 19. I have to admit that it was well done. Interesting to watch knowing what we know now.

  4. HA! Over at the Speakers’ Blog Paul Ryan is whining about our objection and miscalculation of the quadrupling of foreign workers under the H2-Visa. In a particularly condescending piece, the Press Office explains the “process” and the “facts” to us who make “mountains out of molehills” (as in you idiots) and who fail to recognize the “significant gains” made in the artful compromise known as the Omnibus bill. Quite the attitude oozing out of Ryan’s office. A little thin skinned — kinda’ like Sir Golfsalot.

In the meantime Kerry has said that executive action will be taken to exclude Iranians from the tightening of the Visa Waiver Program which Mr. Ryan also touts as a “significant” win in this same PR. Guess they forgot to factor in Mr. Pen and Phone. One day — too late — the GOPe will learn that surrender is not compromise and there is no such thing as compromise in the Democrat real world.

  5. Regarding the previous post about Cruz’s new commercial, it appears that a WaPo cartoonist got a smack down from her editor:

WaPo Caves Into Pressure, Deletes Cartoon Depicting Cruz’s Children Amid Backlash (UPDATED)

Ann Telnaes, an editorial cartoonist from The Washington Post, created and published a cartoon recently that depicted GOP candidate Ted Cruz and his children (the cartoon was actually a GIF since it’s 2015 — what would Charles Addams say to GIFs, I wonder?).

In her write-up for The Washington Post online, Telnaes acknowledges that, “There is an unspoken rule in editorial cartooning that a politician’s children are off-limits.” However Telnaes clarified why her recent artwork was deserving of exemption status from that unspoken rule:

But when a politician uses his children as political props, as Ted Cruz recently did in his Christmas parody video in which his eldest daughter read (with her father’s dramatic flourish) a passage of an edited Christmas classic, then I figure they are fair game.

The video in question stars the Texas Senator alongside his two daughters reading parody Dr. Seuss “classics” like “How Obamacare Stole Christmas”. Telnaes wasted no time in hitting at the heart of the parody, and illustrated Cruz as a boot-sporting Santa organ grinder making his children monkey dance:

Within an hour, Ted Cruz took to Twitter to bash the “classy” display from The Washington Post cartoonist, noting that his daughters “Caroline & Catherine are out of your league.”

    Ted Cruz ✔ @tedcruz
Classy. @washingtonpost makes fun of my girls. Stick w/ attacking me–Caroline & Catherine are out of your league.

On Tuesday morning, Telnaes hinted of the possibility that she might take square aim at Cruz’s decision to use his daughters in the comedy sketch, cryptically Tweeting the following:

    Ann Telnaes ✔ @AnnTelnaes
Ted Cruz has put his children in a political ad- don’t start screaming when editorial cartoonists draw them as well.

We will update this post with the latest in the great Winter Solstice cartoon war of Cruz v. WaPo.

UPDATE — 10:47 P.M. ET: It appears as if the Washington Post has caved to the pressure amid backlash from Senator Cruz, as the original post has been removed and Telnaes’ original Tweet — which we originally embedded up above — as been deleted.

An Editor’s Note from Fred Hiatt on the link that formerly included Telnaes’ cartoon includes the following:

It’s generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it. I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree.

A screengrab of the original Tweet from Telnaes is here:
