In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. Gotta’ print more money — the FSA is getting restless, Gutierrez says illegal immigrants should get Obamacare, and then there are the invading hordes of ME “refugees” and people from the South that we are going to have to take care of for the rest of our lives.

So, there has to be enough to get Obama through the end of his Administration. After that, who knows….

    1. Island Girl, ISIS has occupied large parts of Syria. Imagine, they trade in oil, cotton etc, who trades with them ? Media silence on that. And what has the Obama administration done during all these years ? I believe that the idea was to “starve” and contain Assad and so the US did not mind much about the ISIS who could grow to a monster. It is a mysterious war, many are involved. The Obama administration is hand in hand with the Saudis ( the worst abuser of human rights in the world, IMHO ) and Russia sides with Assad, not up to western standards either but far better than the Saudi kings. Minorities have always existed and build churches etc in Syria , the country has a long and colourful history. Assad wants to keep the country that way and seeks help from Russia and finally, here they come to help their old buddy ( and keep the Mediterranian ports and the influence in the ME ). Russia has an imminent interest in stopping ISIS for other reasons as well, ISIS are on their way to Caucasus. And Europeans ought to applaud, they might be on their way to us as well. Well, they probably are here already, hidden in those enormous migrant crowds .So I say, go Russia, destroy these evil forces. It would be great if the US and Russia could stop squabbling and cooperate in this urgent affair.

      1. Island Girl/ Swedishlady I am overwhelmed again of how o has handled, or should I say not kept a handle on another major situation. I fear what Putin has up his sleeve as well.

      2. Russia and Syria is a triad with Iran, the who holds the distinction of one of worst who foster state sponsored (that is until Kerry and Obama took them off the list).

There are many valid reasons to rail against ISIS and the Sunnis but there is little reason to consider the triad to be clean.

        1. My take is we were punked AGAIN. Don’t agree Assad is better than the Saudis. Nations are amoral–they act in their own interests–except us…we don’t act in our own interests. Pretty big doins. This idea of let Russia duke it out with ISIS is nuts–they are duking it out with our so-called clients to est their own client state. Will Assad run it or will they swat him? Who knows–they may buy him out. I know the going line is that Russia really grabbed the tar baby–but I doubt it will turn out like Afghanistan for them.

  2. Mr. Lew….Mr. President sir, I am here to report on our new age accounting practice….We are able to obscure and deflect with complete confidence. Pay no attention to the press released numbers… Here.. I ve scribbled down on this little piece of paper the best guess numbers for your approval….

    1. Wayne Mr. Lew may have scribbled a # he liked. However he may have scribbled the correct #, and o told him: I don’t like it. Give me another #!
