In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. Thank goodness. I was getting a headache trying to follow the convo on the other thread. Not liking this new-ish comment layout. Is it just me?

    1. You mean where it gets narrower and narrower–yeah, kind of annoying–and the nesting is off sometimes, and I still get “dupe” notices, kicked off the air, etc.

      1. It would be helpful if there were divider lines between conversations. Sometimes the convo seems to go on and on, and I can’t tell who is responding to whom!

      2. Oh Star, “1950s bossy cow husband ” ? ?What is that ? Well, I can guess , and it is a funny expression.
By the way, all you “oldies” here, has anyone heard of Julie B ? I miss her .

      3. We’ve all complained many times about the “new, improved” format that seems to be worse while still having just as many error messages and mod problems…. yet it remains. Not our blog or our rules, but it certainly is perplexing why this newer format with all of its issues, (narrow columns shrinking and shrinking, no lines between comment threads like the old format, difficult to follow, etc.), is apparently preferred.

    2. The threads get too skinny.
There is also a problem with nesting the comments.
I have been spending more time on other threads,…WZ, Motus, Crayfisher.

  2. So, today’s theme is the same as yesterday’s with the MSM political whosits: Trump, TRUMP, Trumpites, Trumpazoola, Trump madness, TRUMP’s failings, trump rump ump mp p. Geez.

    Trump’s up, he’s down, he’s all around.
Poor Jeb!, he’s the nowhere man.
    Poor “H”, she’s swirling now.
The inevitable frontrunners are still on the bench.
    oh boy.

    1. Tea Party sure do love them some Trump.

Nashville Straw Poll at the annual convention of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies : Trump 52%

  3. So, there I was, walking through the mall in Chicago, and I saw that there was a ‘Muslim Book Store’. I was wondering what exactly was in a Muslim bookstore, so I went in.
As I was wandering around taking a look, the clerk stopped me and asked if he could help me.
I imagine I didn’t look like his normal clientele, so I asked, “Do you have a copy of Donald Trump’s book on his U.S. Immigration Policy regarding Muslims and illegal Mexicans?”
The clerk said, “F**k off, get out and stay out!”
I said, “Yes, that’s the one. Do you have it in paperback?”

      1. Read it again.
Do you remember the yahoos ?
It is interesting that it was written so many years ago and yet the lessons that he was inferring still apply today.

        As Spock would say,…..Fascinating.

        1. No, AFVet, I don’t remember the yahoos. I mostly remember the Lilliputians. I actually have it loaded on my Kindle, along with a ton of other books I read back in college and even in my high school English Lit class. I think a lot of the old classics were free and I loaded them onto my Kindle a few years back with the intention of reading them all again one day when I have the time. It might be a few more years before I have that kind of time. Although, your comment is making me interested in taking a look at it again soon. Thanks.
