In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. Aha! A 6:25 reception (party time) for Af/Ams! All of this just two days after the Nigerian prez was feted at the WH.

What in God’s name is the African Growth and Opportunity Act? Unwed Black moms collecting welfare? Sheesh!

  2. The White House was in rainbow colours within hours of the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage but it took five days to lower the flag to honour the dead Marines. Priorities ?!

  3. Fox just played a clip of BO on Jon Stewart…did I hear correctly?

BO said the IRS isn’t a scandal, it’s just underfunded by the GOP so they can’t do their jobs properly. ?????

Of course, Stewart lapped it up.

    1. Why, yes. Americans want the IRS to have more and more money so that they can do their job of hounding the public.
      /s/
How clueless can any politician be, forgetting he is the POTUS? Truth be told, we’d be just fine with it if the IRS laid off all it’s employees and turned their DC building into a homeless shelter.

    2. I just read an article on http://www.weaselzippers.us
Jon spent segment asking o about media.
“The media are a bunch (sic) of different medias, some get on my nerves more than others.”
“What I’m most concerned about is not that it’s unfair or to tough on government…but that it gets distracted by shiny objects and doesn’t always focus on the big tough choices and decisions.”

    3. Rubio on FNC discussing BO’s interview now, doing a lovely job picking him apart… LOIS LERNER pleaded the 5th, WHY?
      Boom!

      1. Unfortunately, Rubio is preaching to the choir on FNC. Jon Stewart is where most of the LIVs get their news.

The snake-oil salesman has been peddling his lies on these comedy shows since day one. It will continue ad infinitum.
        Brace yourselves!

  4. “The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was signed into law on May 18, 2000 as Title 1 of The Trade and Development Act of 2000. The Act offers tangible incentives for African countries to continue their efforts to open their economies and build free markets.

    Source:trade.gov/agoa/

What about incentives for American businesses and the US economy? And why a reception to celebrate this Act now?

    1. All of this stuff is in preparation for his monumental trip to his homeland. He needs to show how dedicated he is to his peeps.
Probably handing out billions of our taxpayer dollars, too.

      1. I hope there are many photos of him and the family in traditional garb , dancing and celebrating around the old homefront in his ancestral “village” with all his family while they roast dog and drink whatever the traditional drink is.

      2. Here’s how newspapers and media in Kenya are describing Obama’s visit: a Homecoming visit. Homecoming? As in this is returning home? Looks like it.
        http://ntv.nation.co.ke/-/2720202/2801232/-/903guv/-/index.html

And a funny story mocking how Kenya government officials are “greening up” Kenya for Obama, and doing other silly things for the visit.

And, of course, Kenyan witch doctors are getting in on the fun:

    2. Why, those incentive funds were all in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the “Stimulus Bill”, lest we forget.

As we know, only 6 percent of that $787 billion ended up in “stimulus” projects. Obama spent the remaining $781 billion to….well, let’s see here….it’s somewhere in the files, maybe it’s under the desk….must be here somewhere. Well, I guess we don’t know. Maybe Obama ran out of shovels for these “shovel-ready” stimulus jobs. It could happen.

  5. Over at Breitbart there is an article about the hearings on Immigration yesterday. The testimonies were heart wrenching.

Yet when asked when the immigration laws on sanctuary cities would be enforced ICE Director Saldana said something really arrogant — learns from the best Obama — when you all pass comprehensive immigration.

This bureaucracy of Obama’s is astonishing in their lack of accountability and their arrogance.

      1. Well, Boeing employs a lot of people–and it finances airplanes…esp when Boeing was battling Airbus… No it’s big projects–not small biz…No argument there.

        1. Theoretically one of its functions was to help those who were not well equipped to compete on an international level. That has never been the case. Boeing is a typical EXIM deal.

          1. Yes–largest commercial export we have–or was–would have to check the stats. Eximbank was like the financing arm–allowing countries to buy…If they got a better deal from our financing arm, they bought Am.

          2. Well, it isn’t really that simple…buyers could also negotiate offsets…Require a certain percent be built in their country giving their workers jobs–or some weird ones, such as Boeing had to offset by buying their chocolate or something–then Boeing had to get rid of that.

    1. Star, I don’t know what the issue is this time with EXIM. I do know it was about reauthorization and I do not the current status. So, therefore I am uninformed and shouldn’t be talking about it.

But I think the gist of it was — antiquated, corrupt, private business can do better than government, etc. However Kelly Ayotte and Lindsey Graham are for reauthorization — so my gut tells me it can’t be a good thing.

But back in the day, it was quite the thing.

      1. Maybe my facts are old–in fact, I guarantee they are–but like a car lot, we need to provide financing for big ticket items. I am sure some unsavory types bought Am goods with Eximbank financing…We deal with lots of unsavory types–we are providing arms to some now. I spent 15 yrs of my life working on the Eximbank from the Am exporters’ side and sure am not eager to wrestle with it here. I could dial it up and see what’s what–but I figure I have done my time.

  6. About Obama appearing with John Stewart after the murder of 5 US military on US soil by a terrorist — I saw this on Twitter.

Obama must think CIC means Celebrity in Chief.

And no condolence calls to the families.

A black soul Barack Obama has.

  7. “homegrown violent extremist” — How the FBI has classified Mohammed from TN who spent 7 months traveling in the ME .

Anything that is not Islamic or terrorist or jihadi works for the FBI which like the IRS and DHS is nothing but a mouthpiece and a political tool for the Obama Administration.
