In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. Schedule for the Week of July 13, 2015

On Monday, the President will deliver remarks at the 2015 White House Conference on Aging. The White House has held a Conference on Aging each decade since the 1960s to identify and advance actions to improve the quality of life of older Americans. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Older Americans Act, as well as the 80th anniversary of Social Security. The conference is an opportunity to recognize the importance of these key programs while bringing together older Americans, caregivers, government officials, members of the public, business leaders, and community leaders to discuss the issues that will help shape the landscape for older Americans in the next decade and explore policy solutions to address them.

On Tuesday, the President will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to deliver remarks at the NAACP’s 106th national convention. While there, the President will outline the unfairness in much of our criminal justice system, highlight bipartisan ideas for reform, and lay out his own ideas to make our justice system fairer, smarter, and more cost-effective while keeping the American people safe and secure. He will also attend a DNC event. Further details on the President’s travel to Pennsylvania will be available in the coming days.

On Wednesday, the President will travel to Durant, Oklahoma, where he will visit the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and deliver remarks on expanding economic opportunity. The President will remain overnight in Oklahoma.

On Thursday, the President will continue his focus on criminal justice reform by making the first visit by a sitting President to a federal prison — El Reno Federal Correctional Institution outside of Oklahoma City. While there, he will meet with law enforcement officials and inmates and conduct an interview for a Vice documentary that will air in the fall about the realities of our criminal justice system. Further details on the President’s travel to Oklahoma will be available in the coming days.

On Friday, the President will attend meetings at the White House.

        1. I recall reading somewhere recently that they are trying to change that. I’m too lazy to look it up at the moment. It might have been a Holder proposal, but I’m not sure.

    1. I continue to be stunned that he gets away with his mad adventure, and that more citizens aren’t screaming at the top of their lungs, or that the current Congress refuses to use the tools their disposal. Just don’t get it.

  2. Conference on Aging? More likely, this is a mtg of the O/Care death panels to determine who lives or dies, and what age to start passing out the little pills instead of wasting $$$ on medical treatment for Granny.

    1. Yes, he is. Barry is our first Kardashian president. Bubble headed, completely self-absorbed, selfie taking, “is my ass too big for this dress?” President.

Future historians will scratch their heads in amazement as they try to figure out how this phony became President of the United States. Twice.

  3. I read today that Biden seems less and less interested in running for President. Of course, the article was written by a Hillary operative. :-)

Isn’t it Biden who should be speaking to the seniors? After all, he is one of them.

  4. O/T
Looks like The Donald has another Trump card to play. Seems like the Mexican drug king has tunneled out of his prison cell, and is on the loose.
Sounds similar to the break-out of the two killers who escaped from the NY prison recently. They couldn’t have escaped without the aid of prison employees. (When is Cuomo going to answer for his obvious lack of prison oversight?)

  5. I cannot believe this is on his schedule…
After everything he has screwed up so far. The List, The Mess and he is going to shove his 2 cents into the older Americans, and the Choctaw Nation.
He is going to visit a prison!
I turned on the tv news this morning to find out a High level drug cartel leader escaped from a Mexican prison through a 4ft high tunnel.
However he does not shove his 2 cents into a major issue like protecting our borders.
Than there is the Iran crud on the back burner. He should be sitting on live TV speaking to the American people on how he thinks the Iranian people are just so dandy, and how he feels we have nothing to fear.

    1. Can you imagine the pardons Obama will issue when/if he ever leaves office?
You hit it right on the head again, gracepmc. Going to be a rough week.
