In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

NBC Dumps Trump

NBC today decided to end its relationships with Donald Trump in response to racist comments he made against Mexican immigrants, saying it will not air the Miss USA and the Miss Universe pageants, which it owns with Trump.

The company said in a statement:

At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.

Trump’s rambling presidential announcement speech earlier this month generally smacked of xenophobia, with his obsessive focus on Mexico and China as the source of America’s problems. That’s what xenophobic demagogues do, they try to say foreigners are the cause of everything bad.

He had disgusting things to say about Mexican immigrants:

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. They’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting.

The clear indication here is that most Mexican immigrants are of extremely bad character. I’m no supporter of illegal immigration or even unfettered legal immigration from Mexico. But most of the people who come here are decent and often very hardworking individuals desperate to make money for their families.

Trump didn’t even have the class to try to apologize for his grotesque comments, instead trying to change the subject to illegal immigration. He said today:

If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.

This is not about NBC. It’s not about trade, and it is not even about immigration. It’s about racist comments made by Donald Trump. What a sorry¬†thing for the GOP that he has added his moronic, hateful rants to the Republican presidential contest.

  1. Et tu, Keith?

As someone you’re trying to get the heck out of this country by LEGAL immigration, let me tell y’all something. Only the U.S. allows in tonnes of unskilled people to create a new protected class for political gain (case in point by the number of people turning on Trump) and to fulfill cheap labor needs… where Americans are just too sorry to work.

If you wanted to let’s say go to Australia, do you know how many hoops you have to go through to get in? The same goes for Switzerland, New Zealand, Chile, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, hell even the U.S. on a legal visa… any place that is half way decent to live and has job opportunities. Both the Aussies and Europeans are desperately trying to keep out illegal, unskilled immigrants… So why is Trump the bad guy? Oh, because he spoke the truth. A truth against a protected class isn’t allowed in the land of the free. That’s civics 101 in modern Amerika. Watch out though Amerika. You’re getting too many protected classes! Women and African Americans are starting to get pushed out by homosexual and transgendered (our what ever the self identification flavor of the day is)…and Hispanics will boot all of them if they can be co-opted by the American Communist Party (aka the Democrats) and the American Fascist Party (aka the GOP)… probably the former.

The Donald was not diplomatic, but he was right. He said there were good and bad people. From personal experience, I will agree. I have run across some very nice and hard working Mexicans (no doubt illegal) on construction sites. BUT, I have also noticed that our daily police mugshots (some for serious crimes) are starting to looking mighty Hispanic in our little, white community. Maybe its racist cops, maybe its white privilege. Maybe Americans have become of bunch of thin skinned wusses straight out of the Capitol in the Hunger Games.

But, what’s the point of arguing anymore. I’m freaking out of here. Hopefully my family will get treated as well as illegal Mexicans are here these days. If you people had a clue of what’s coming, you would seriously considering leaving too.

    1. Well said. What is the very first thing illegal immigrants do? Break the law by entering illegally. Look at the can of worms we have opened up. Laws have no meaning. A President who ignores the checks and balances and rules by virtual fiat. The Supreme Court thinks words have no meaning. My sister-in-law, a CPA who worked for Price Waterhouse in Bermuda, is a legal immigrant and still has no documents to get a job or driver’s license, probably because our fine government is too busy catering to the law breaking kind of immigrant.
I have a feeling, Keith, that Madison isn’t the only one turning in his grave.

  2. There it is again – “racist comments”. Since when is being born in Mexico the beginning of a new human race?
Mexicans are White people – they’re not Negroes, nor are they Asian – so…

As someone who has been right in the middle of the most massive invasion of one country by another, yes, those who are illegally tramping across our border are not usually educated, can neither read or write their own language, and a vast number are criminals.
They are poor, we all agree. Their homeland is a cesspool of drug cartels and corrupt government officials. Violence is a way of life in Mexico, poor health care or none at all, and so America looks like Utopia to all.

Well, they’re in OUR HOUSE (MrPresident), they weren’t invited, don’t have a right to our assets, and they are resented by most Americans as interlopers who have found themselves protected by our own corrupt government.
MrTrump spoke out of hand and knew what the results would be. He’s a big boy.

  3. Yikes Keith.I have no issue with Donald or Mexico..have enjoyed both. Growing up in Southern California I got to experience the culture first hand. All is not a bed of roses.

    1. We are have a large group here that speak no English and have never been to a school. They don’t want to be citizens they just want to work and send money home, while we provide them all the benefits.

  4. “The clear indication here is that most Mexican immigrants are of extremely bad character. Is there a typo or overly edited line here? “….most ILLEGAL Mexican….”?

Legal immigration is fine. Illegal immigration is extremely bad in my opinion. It’s the national version of broken glass.

    1. Wow. How apropos, I meant broken windows as in the policing theory not glass (which can be a reference to Kristallnacht).

  5. Meh, this is the network that didn’t fire Brian Williams, just demoted him to another cushy job?

I like The Donald, he does make good points in his speeches which aren’t always politically correct. Can’t wait to see what he fires back at the Hillary Network :D

  6. Despite the vile comments of Sharpton and the lying of Brian Williams, they remain on the payroll. But don’t you dare voice an honest opinion about the southern border!

Off with your head! Says NBC.

Trump can be arrogant, crude, condescending, rude, mean, even a bit racist, but that all pales in comparison to the vitriol we hear every day on MSNBC.

Shame shame on you NBC, your predecessors are rolling over in the grave….

  7. Easy for you to say, Keith. Obviously, you do not have much Mexican/Hispanic crime in your neighborhood. Out here in flyover country, it is rampant. I don’t even live anywhere near the border. Just take a look at the daily mugshot lineups and see for yourself.

  8. Seems like he just stated the obvious – the Mexicans coming here are not their “best and brightest”, they bring their baggage with them. Trump thinks this is a problem and doesn’t think we should be just accepting the status quo.

I’m not a fan of his but he just stated the obvious here, if a little undiplomatically. Disappointing to see you cheaply playing the racism card here.

When Sharpton and Williams are fired I’ll start considering the possibility of NBC acting with integrity.
