In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

  1. A few days ago, I predicted that Obummer would be having a long golf weekend in Palm Springs, CA soon, just as he has the past two years in mid June. Well, as I noted in the Open Thread today, the Choom Gang from Hawaii is in town and he played golf with them on Saturday (according to Mark Knoller’s tweets). I figured they must be here all week while Moochelle and the Moochettes are in London, Milan, and Venice for a week.

So, now looking at his weekly schedule, (even lighter than usual), I see he’s headed out to LA and SFO later in the week for fundraisers. My prediction: The Choom Gang will go out there with him and they’ll spend the weekend playing golf in Pam Springs as they have the last two years, (it’s Fathers Day, btw, and Mooch and the kids will still be in Europe).

Schedule for the Week of June 15, 2015

On Monday, the President will attend the graduation ceremony for participants of the 2015 White House Mentorship & Leadership Program.

On Tuesday, the President will attend meetings at the White House.

On Wednesday, the President will deliver remarks at an investiture ceremony for Attorney General Loretta Lynch at Warner Theatre.

In the evening, the President will host a picnic for Members of Congress at the White House.

On Thursday, the President will travel to the Los Angeles, California area to attend DNC events. The President will remain overnight in Los Angeles.

On Friday, the President will travel to the San Francisco, California area to deliver remarks at the Annual Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and attend DNC and DCCC events. Further details about the President’s travel to California will be made available in the coming days.

    1. I knew it! He is so predictable! Every year since his re-election, he has had a long golf weekend in Palm Springs for Presidents day weekend and for Father’s Day weekend:

First family won’t join Obama on Palm Springs trip

When President Barack Obama steps foot on the tarmac of the airport next weekend during his rumored trip to Palm Springs, don’t expect to see his family by his side.

First lady Michelle Obama will travel through Europe from June 15 to 21, working to promote the Let Girls Learn, Let’s Move and Joining Forces initiatives, according to the White House’s Office of the First Lady.

Accompanying her on this trip will be her mother, Marian Robinson, and daughters Malia and Sasha.

While the first lady globe-trots, her husband will likely work on his golf handicap — as he has on his past four trips to the Coachella Valley.

Although the White House has yet to confirm the president’s weekend trip to the Coachella Valley, it has confirmed that he will travel to Los Angeles Thursday to attend Democratic National Committee events.

The next day, Obama will move north to San Francisco to deliver remarks at the annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and attend further DNC and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee events.

The White House Press Office has yet to confirm further details of the president’s California plans, but not-so-whispered rumors put him in Palm Springs for Father’s Day weekend.

This would mark his fifth trip to the valley, after visits in June 2013, Valentine’s Day 2014, Father’s Day 2014 and Valentine’s Day 2015.

His first trip, during which he and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed climate change, seemed to have sparked a love for the warm weather or, more realistically, the area’s lush fairways.

    2. So much living high off the hog left to do, and so little time. They love Walter Annenberg’s Sunnyland estate in Rancho Mirage.

To quote the title of a book by the late columnist Molly Ivins…”Who let the dogs in?”

    3. As usual, he throws in an hour speaking to the Conference of Mayors so that we all have the privilege of paying for another weekend of fundraisers and golf.

All while we also pay for another luxury vacation by the wife, kids, and grandma in Europe.

    1. How many times have MO and the kids left town on Father’s Day? She loves to humiliate him and he is taking it out on us by attempting to destroy the country.
      Seriously, these people are sick!

      1. I very much doubt Barry finds the absence of Mooch humiliating. Liberating, perhaps. Or maybe he has no reaction at all.

    2. Well, well, why is this no surprise. Once again an official function is scheduled so travel expenses aren’t out of his pocket. Nor is it a surprise that he’ll celebrate Father’s Day with his friends. At least the weather won’t be so dandy – 112 predicted for the high in Palm Springs on Saturday.

  2. Not to be rude… well ok… may he melt!
Why would this old supposed Hawaiian grown boy go to the desert in the summer when there is plenty of beautiful beaches in California plenty luxurious even for him. Strange he is.

    1. When Walter Annenberg was alive, his Sunnylands estate was known as the Western White House. He and his wife, Lenore, hosted every US president, Queen Elizabeth, and every notable person of that era – beginning in the 60’s.

Those are bygone days, but Obama is still trying to cash in on the prestige.

All I can say is Walter Annenberg would be spinning in his grave if Obama and the choom gang invaded his world!

  3. If only he had a schedule like this for every week of his presidency, America would be much better off.

No domestic policy decisions and no chance to screw up foreign affairs.

Eight years of golf, fundraisers, and entertaining sports teams at the White House would have minimized the damage of his presidency.

Instead, we have a president trying to make his “legacy”.
