In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

        1. How interesting that you celebrate the birthday of fictional characters. Well, they’re good and noble fictional characters, at least.

Aragorn: Sons of Gondor! Of Rohan! My brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

  1. It’s time we face up to the new reality; we need to move the FirstFamily out of the WhiteHouse into some other housing that can be more secure and better protected. The tradition that allows the family to live there must give way to the modern times and the possiblitity of a terrorist attack on the building.

No one wants the Obamas to be frightened or to feel that they are sitting targets for any nutso who happens to penetrate what seems to be a lax security system, nor should they have to live in a building that is visited by hordes of tourists every day.

  2. While he is running his mouth today regarding the strikes, is he going to warn everyone to lock their front door as well.
By the way he should have spoke last night, not the day after.
