In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

James Rosen Corners Jen Psaki

You can tell he cornered her, because watch how pissy she gets.

Veteran Washington reporter James Rosen of Fox News today elucidated the Obama administration’s illogic and temporizing on Iraq by boxing State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki into an untenable position where she was left claiming that what is self-evidently a war is somehow not a war.

Read and watch him Psocking it to Psaki.

Rosen: What is the legal authority under which President Obama has launched the more than 100 air strikes that you just referenced?

Psaki: In Iraq? Well, the Iraqi government has invited the United States in to help them address this threat and that’s the legal authority.

Rosen: And he has reported to Congress on this subject, has he not?

Psaki: Yep.

Rosen: Under the aegis of what statute?

Psaki: He does War Powers Acts every time there’s a need to notify Congress.

Rosen: So we have a commander in chief that launched more than 100 air strikes at a given enemy who is reporting to the Congress under the aegis of the War Powers Act. Who is watching our people beheaded by this enemy, but who for some reason feels queasy about saying that we are in fact at war with this enemy?

Psaki: James, I think — I’m not going to put new words into the mouth of the President of the United States. My point is that his actions to authorize these strikes, his effort to send Secretary Kerry, Secretary Hagel, any resource we have in the United States to lead the building of a coalition speak to his commitment to his commitment to taking on this threat. And of course we want to see ISIL destroyed, but that is not an overnight effort.

  1. Keith, Thanks placing this on the thread.
    Taking on this threat
    Want to see destroyed
    Not overnight effort
I heard on Fox a moment ago:
If you destroy them, they would not be around to manage.
I do not understand this idea, of long term!
We may always have terrorist to deal with, but he is doing nothing now expect little air strikes. A truck here, a truck there being hit.

    1. The only “JV” team we are seeing is team obama…..
Starting at the top (obama), these people are operating at a very low level of maturity & professionalism. Every day brings new evidence of how unprepared, disinterested, disengaged and ignorant this president truly is. And now the pompous one escapes(again) from the realities of the office and skips over to the baltic states where he will surely embarrass our nation due to his incompetence. Is this really happening??

  2. The three new spokespeople that were hired by Obama are rookies, talking heads that seem to be as emotionless as their boss. And to make matters worse, they have a very uncomfortable smile or smirk on their face as they reply to extremely serious situations. What is up with that?

Another case of an inexperienced manager hiring inexperienced people to work for him. And that’s what they do, because if they hired real pros, the pros would know more than the President, and certainly we cannot stand for that!

    1. You absolutely nailed it. Obama surrounds himself with these strange, robotic rump swabbers to billboard his “accomplishments” for all the world to see. Pathetic.

  3. I saw some of that interview on Fox last night. What stuck in my craw was her refusal to use the word “war”. She said she didn’t see any point in changing the terminology at this point. But they’re the ones changing the words at this point: it has been called “war” for thousands of years. It’s a word which would stir up the populace to a really just cause. No argument in this case.

BTW, it always comes down to words with these people. Sorry, a real sustained military action is needed now, not a war of words.

  4. sooo… two years after Obama’s red line, and one year after Obama denied he said there was a red line, they have acknowledged that Assad is a real meanie. Got it.

I have to say, the reporters on this beat are very smart, and it is obvious they know more than the Obamabots.

    1. As I always say, WHD should be required reading for all the WHPC just to let them know we have their back. It’s a safe bet that we do represent a large majority of informed voters, who pay taxes, read and watch the medias they represent.

      We ROCK !

  5. Whew, Jen, it sure was a lot more fun working for the Obama campaign in 2012, wasn’t it? Some of these guys, like Rosen, actually ask serious questions, and don’t let you get away with the typical Obama answers.

    This is pretty tough work.

  6. MOTUS compared Obama to Dr. Pangloss in Voltaire’s Candide this morning. I loved it. My translation of Dr. Pangloss’s perpetual bromide says, “All’s for the best in the best of all possible worlds.” Doesn’t that fit Obama perfectly? Even WaPo’s Dana Millbank is concerned now.

  7. Keith, I love your phrase “Psocking Psaki.”
James Rosen thinks circles around this ditzel and her blonde counterpart.
I know they both came to their posts from campaign positions…however did that qualify them to speak for the State Department.
Oh well, maybe they are authorities on wind surfacing and whatever that other “water sport” Kerry was doing on Labor Day. They may be experts too on printed shorts for men.

  8. This is what you get when you send a grad student to do a diplomat’s job.

I gather no one over there has a meaningful response to these detestable little snuff films they are sending. Saying our memory and reach are long–well, gol-leee.

  9. For all that he is an agent of FOXnews, it’s almost surpising that she actually answered his question instead of spitting on the floor and asking “next”.
There’s no way around it, no spin sufficient to cover the fact that dropping bombs on someone means that a war is in progress.
The lying-eyes approach to everything that the Obama administration does or is reponsible for seems to work for the other MSM who just parrot the spin or talking points without question.
Targeting certain people or things is just a holding action not an act of war, illegal aliens are just unaccompanied children on a trek, and the list goes on to bigger and better lies.
    Just lies, not spin.

  10. Can’t Pstand her.

They refuse to use the word “war” because Barry proclaimed the War on Terror was over and all wars must end, blah blah blah.

Every policy consideration in this administration is solely based on defending him…he can never be wrong about anything.

  11. Little Jen must have been the smartest person on the debate team. Even with that being said, when she’s put into a quandary with someone with facts, she turns herself into a dimwit. These ppl act like they’re stil in grade school. You would think they would stop the spin because their election days are done. Thank God. Problem is, they never got past that &never tried to govern. 839 days to go.

  12. Yesterday as this was coming out CNN cut to Psaki answering questions. Then, as she was still answering they CUT AWAY and went back to the CNN pundits to explain what they thought was going on. She must have been floundering so they saved her the embarrassment. I mean, really, wouldn’t the best news at the time be directly from the State Dept?

  13. ” … I’m not going to …,” the new phrase. So righteous — you can’t lead me anywhere, Bad Person Reporter.

The very indignant President of a Sorority has more authority and gravitas.
