Obama Goes to War Against ISIS

President Obama ordered airstrikes today against ISIS forces threatening the Kurdish capital of Irbil.

According to the Pentagon:

The U.S. military conducted a targeted airstrike today against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorists in northern Iraq, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said in a statement.

At about 6:45 a.m. EDT, two F/A-18 aircraft dropped 500-pound laser-guided bombs on a mobile artillery piece near Irbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, Kirby said, adding that ISIL was using this artillery to shell Kurdish forces defending the city, where U.S. personnel are located.

The decision to strike was made by Army Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, commander of U.S. Central Command, under authorization granted him by the commander in chief, the admiral said.

“As the president made clear, the United States military will continue to take direct action against ISIL when they threaten our personnel and facilities,” he added.

Obama may think he’s involved in a “targeted” action. But make no mistake, we are at war with ISIS terrorists and their self-proclaimed Caliphate, and they are not going to go away as easily as Qaddafi did.

    • Yes it is too late Denise.
They should have used the Navy and the Air Force to stop the migration of ISIS to their target.
Open desert is a lot different from the jungles of Vietnam.
Now they can entrench themselves within and among innocent people,….again.

      • Exactly. We really missed an outstanding opportunity to annihilate them as a fighting force. I’m not surprised in the least.

And now we have another excellent chance to destroy a large force at the base of the mountain where they have placed the Yazidis under siege.

What we should do to bastards like this is put pressure on them until they scream UNCLE and then kill them. That’s the only way to be sure.

If we don’t destroy this threat, they will be coming to a neighborhood near you very…soon.

    • Even on the left-leaning MoJoe, they say this won’t solve the problem. One guy said Bush faced terrorist states and this ISIS thing is free-floating “like poison gas” wafting around and getting into cracks.

  1. Dropping bombs on a fighting force that believes dying for Allah is an honor is a futile exercise.
This horrific mess is the fault of PresBush. Not Bush, Jr, but Bush,Sr. who refused to take over the whole country when our forces were in control.
It’s time for the US to join other nations in colonizing lands that we conquer in wartime instead of passing the rule back to the same kind of people we defeated.

  2. What sticks in Obama’s craw is that he’s doing this bombing to save Christians. CNN won’t use the C word at all, calling them “religious minorities”. How far wrong can this world have gone that the mere mention of Christianity is offensive on the networks?

    • Obama practically choked when he finally moved from saving Iraqis to religious to — big gulp -Christian. Obama and his pandering propagandists are pathetic in their vacuous morality.

  3. “But as recently as last November, Obama dismissed ISIS and other al-Qaeda affiliates as nothing more than a jayvee squad. While interviewing Obama, The New Yorker’s David Remnick noted that “the flag of al-Qaeda is now flying in Fallujah, in Iraq, and among various rebel factions in Syria,” and that “al-Qaeda has asserted a presence in parts of Africa, too.”

The president shot back: “If a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.”””
