In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

    1. I’m surprised Politico didn’t put the heading in huge caps and then “among Muslims” in the smallest print they could find. A carefully crafted poll which shows the Mormons, of whom a large part of the population are wary, with the biggest disapproval, the Catholics middling disapproval, and everyone else, including the atheists, as “meh”.

  1. Be careful what you wish for. Andrew McCarthy said on Megan Kelly’s program last night that if a special prosecutor were appointed for the IRS scandal, as Darryl Issa thinks Holder might do, several bad things would happen. A) The administration would appoint someone favorable to the administration. A special prosecutor is not an independent prosecutor. B) The ensuing investigation would give all the usual suspects an out from answering questions from the media and the rest of us. They would say, “I can’t answer any questions because there is an on-going investigation.” C) Obama would pardon them on his way out the door.

McCarthy thinks it is better that the Congress continue the investigation and also that judges continue to press the IRS on the computer wipes.

    1. I put this up because I wonder where Issa and the establish Republicans are coming from. They have no love for the Tea Party either when it comes down to it.

    2. As usual, Andrew McCarthy makes perfect sense. I wonder if this is what is lurkng in the dark recesses of Obama’s mind – ‘Impeach me if you can’. It goes with his ‘catch me if you can’ attitude. He’s daring the R’s to ‘step into his parlor’.

  2. Regarding the response to Netanyahu, O feels this may esculate.
Now as I was reading the article I was trying to recall how many men/woman from our military that were let go.
In other words did O come up with this thought on his own, and would any former military advisor have a different thought on this matter?

    1. It has escalated. Israel is now getting rockets from across the Lebanese border. That is no reason for Israel to “exercise restraint” or whatever the Great Won said. Just the opposite.

    2. Lee et al, I’ve posted a website from Israel National Radio that is reporting live about the rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza. See below.

  3. just heard that our military leaders stationed overseas are receiving “pink slips”….Obama, the Commander-In-Chief, finds it acceptable to fire our military leaders while they are in harms way.

I’m weary of Obama, Michelle and Jill Biden telling this country how they are in full support of our military considering the VA hospitals are a disgrace and our veterans are not receiving adequate care. And the Obama administration has lied about the facilities and care for years.

Obama purposefully and with spite closed the World War II memorial during the sequester.

Obama’s goal is to weaken our military and this country. Sadly, he is achieving his goal.

    1. Obama’s got his hand out for the illegals while cutting the military while in the field and in combat. And Hagel and the Pentagon need to be called out on this.

Who cuts in the field? Oh yeah Vietnam. And how long did it take to recover from that? And , of course, there are no hot spots in the world where a fighting military force might be required.

This Administration is doing everything to make us vulnerable at home and abroad. Screw them.

  4. I heard (inadvertently–in the kitchen, too far to lunge for the remote with these knees) that snipey speech, or part of it. It started, “Let me be clear…” and I thought, “Yoh-boy” and put my hands on my ears and went la-la-la. Even on Morning Joe, a couple of them wondered why take this tone. Because that’s his tone! I am the victim, let’s all jeer at the Republicans, I am OZ, I am working so hard, oh, poor me.

  5. Completely OT, but you may find this interesting. I’ve been listening to live radio from Jerusalem this morning. People have been calling in and reporting about the rockets from Gaza landing near their homes, children terrified by the air raid sirens, thousands of people running for shelters. Hundreds of rockets landing in Israel including near Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The Iron Dome hits many of the rockets, but not al.

Here’s the website for the radio station–
