        • Oh my goodnes, Sadie! I used to like that show too, and I’d forgotten about it. I must have been five or six when it was on. I feel so old! But thanks for the memories, anyway!

      • I was in Southern Maryland today (St. Mary’s County) and saw 4 presidential-looking helicopters flying toward the Patuxent Naval Air Station around 3pm and wondered if he was going there to visit with the troops since it’s the start of Military Appreciation Month. Apparently not.

  1. The 2014 National Teacher of the Year is Sean McComb from Baltimore’s Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts.
McComb is only 30 years old, making him one of the youngest Teachers of the Year ever. He is a high school English teacher with just eight years of experience in the classroom.
As National Teacher of the Year, McComb will take a leave from teaching next year and travel around the country advocating for and representing his colleagues in the teaching profession.

Teaching only 8 years. My brother has been at it for 40. Family Circle Magazine did a spread on him after he was teaching 20 years. Oh well, guess he’s too old and too experienced to qualify now.

  2. I think we can at least safely assume Lunch.

8 years teaching and a National Award. Kind of makes you wonder about others who did not get the award — not enough tikeme in the trenches, not enough students’ lives affected in a positive manner?

What a joke. And a slap in the face to all the good teachers out there who have put in the time, the effort, the commitment.

This award kinda’ reminds me of giving our Grifter In Chief the Nobel Peace Prize.
