Cleta Mitchell, the attorney for several groups that had been targeted by the IRS, said today the scandal is “real,” the Justice Department investigation is a “sham,” and the scandal continues.
Mitchell said:

The IRS scandal is not just a bone headed bunch of bureaucrats in some remote office, contrary to what the president of the United Sates told the American people on Sunday
The IRS scandal is not over. It is continuing to this day, and the Department of Justice investigation is a sham. It is a nonexistent investigation.
The IRS, at the direction of some political elites in Washington, not in Cincinnati, but Washington, took what had been for decades a process for reviewing applications for exempt status, that . . . could be expected to take three or four weeks. And they converted that process into one that could take three or four years, and in some cases, is still not over.
Mtichell spoke in testimony before Congress.

I turned on my TV earlier just as she started speaking and WOW was she ever impressive.
Our puny little dear leader really did make a fool od himself with Bill O’Reilly.

Thank you for this post, Keith. I’ve been out of the loop today and didn’t know there was another congressional hearing on the IRS targeting. Hard to believe the harassment is still going, yet the Speaker of the House doesn’t want to spend the few extra dollars it would take to appoint a select committee to investigate the IRS. Boehner just shepherded a pork laden trillion dollar farm bill through the House and has already surrendered on raising the debt ceiling, but investigating the federal leviathan’s attempt to silence the American people might cost too much. Tells me who the Republican leadership is representing…and it’s not the American people.
If Boehner and Holder do not do anything, where will this go?
She did a very good job. However everyone can discuss the matter for the next decade. This will not end, and no one will be punished for it.
The Admin. should be proud to find out who had the discusting nerve to proceed with matter in the IRS.
If it was some nobody, who did not have anything to with (someone of interest) pulling this, it would have been investigated to the fullest.
I watched this hearing off and on today. Three very intelligent women testified. Know what went through my mind? There’s your war on women right there. Dems targeting these women and those they represent. I doubt any feminists will speak up for them however.
The majority of the Tea Party members are women believe it or not.
All the more reason to turn the tables on the War on Women, showing where it really exists.
True believers are obviously in charge at the IRS. They will not stop until they are pounded into the dirt and even then, they will never stop believing they are right in doing what they did.
