As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Well, there were some fireworks, but they didn’t come from the podium.

Following the speech, a reporter for NY1 TV asked Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) about his ethics issues. There have been some suspected irregularities with respect to fundraising for his 2010 campaign, and one of his donors was arrested, though he himself has not been accused of wrongdoing in the investigation.

But he wasn’t exactly in the mood to talk about it. After refusing to answer and ending the interview, Grimm nearly attacked the reporter. You can’t make most of it out in the video below, but this reportedly was the exchange:

Grimm: Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I’ll throw you off this f—–g balcony.

Reporter: Why, why, I just wanted to ask you?

Grimm: If you ever do that to me again.

Reporter: why, why it’s a valid question.

Grimm: No, no, you’re not man enough, you’re not man enough. I’ll break you in half. Like a boy.

Touchy fellow. Entertaining stuff, though.

UPDATE: After first trying to justify his behavior, Grimm has apologized and invited the reporter to lunch. The reporter accepted the apology.

  1. Without further context, it seems the good Congresscritter was ambushed at the SOTU for a comment not related to the President’s speech. The reporter got his “gotcha” moment from a Repub.

Just curious, did this reporter approach any Dems for their questionable actions at the SOTU speech? Did he question CongRandel, or MrsPelosi, or MrBooker……. uh, no he didn’t.

  2. Looks like the former Marine and Special FBI Agent has a temper:

In 2011, The New Yorker magazine reported that Grimm had been the subject of an internal investigation into allegations he abused his authority as a FBI agent in a nightclub in 1999. According to the article,[3] written by Evan Ratliff, the incident resulted from a dispute between Grimm and his date’s husband. A former NYPD officer working as a bouncer at the time said that Grimm remarked about the husband, “I’ll fucking make him disappear where nobody will find him.” Grimm reportedly then returned to the nightclub twice, pulled out his gun once, and brought FBI and NYPD officers the second time.

  3. Off topic, but news just broke over here that two Norwegian politicians went public with their nominations of Snowden for the Peace Prize. Time for the nomination is over by February 1 and it´s up to the ones who nominate if they want to be public or not about it. Usually they do not want it. But this is political dynamite. This will be exciting !
