As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

  1. “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama said in the article by David Remnick, appearing in the magazine’s Jan. 27 edition.

“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.

My, my. What a mountain of malarkey to put out the week in which the author of the words ” not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” is honored.

      • So he was blaming racism for his falling poll numbers ? Nothing to do with his sucky policies, right? Isn’t that the definition of narcissism:

        self-admiration: excessive self-admiration and self-centeredness
personality disorder: in psychiatry, a personality disorder characterized by the patient’s overestimation of his or her own appearance and abilities and an excessive need for admiration.

      • Funny, I still have a problem with labeling Obama…a ‘ Black man’. He is ‘mixed race’. He purposefully picked up the gauntlet of the ‘Black Man’ in order to sell his brand of socialism/communism that was embedded in him from an early age.
Hooking up with an angry Black woman was just another head fake on the road to fundamentally transformiing the United States of America. It was brilliantly orchestrated….beginning with Prof Gates and Eric Holder’s declaration that we are a nation of cowards.
Problem is – no one is buying it anymore,

        • I don’t see why he shouldn’t use it to his advantage. In the past, being half African in this country was a disadvantage. Heck, being one-fourth or even one-eighth was a disadvantage unless one could “pass” as white.

    • What a self-damning admission from MrO. He realizes that some Americans are racists because they don’t like having a Af-Am man in the WhiteHouse, and all the rest are racists because they like having a Af-Am man in the White House.

He can’t , just can’t, be that unaware, so delusional as to the real reason his polling numbers are in the tank.
Of course, it’s true there are some who resent having a Black man in the WhiteHouse, but those falling polls are because he’s a liar, has instituted horrible regulations on the country, and the economy outside Wall Street is in depression figures.
Lest I forget, everyone hates Obamacare, too.

    • Isn’t it ironic that MLK said to judge a person by their character as opposed to their skin color, and the president comes out and makes these statements.
I feel that MLK would NOT condone this president as a viable leader.
The easiest defense for people like Obama is to immediately invoke the race card.
When does the character card kick in ???

    • Obama had the same ethnic background in 2009, right? So how in the world can anybody buy this excuse as a reasonable explanation for his fall in the polls?

    • what April responded I’m startled that a stay at home mom able to get paid $5102 in 4 weeks on the internet . hop over to this site… FB39.COM

    • Like him or not, I couldn’t argue with those quotes. Without reading something else into them, I believe they are accurate, don’t you?

    • just as Don responded I am blown away that anyone can get paid $4995 in four weeks on the computer . you could look here… TEC80.COM

  2. Happened to catch C-Span program last night that I really enjoyed. It was an interview with Doug Mills, still photographer with AP and NYT. It’s an hour show, but if you get a chance, it is very interesting. Starts with him talking about confronting Jay Carney about press access, goes on to talk about press pool (when they fly on AF1, they pay the price of First Class + $1), and I am just geeky enough to be amazed at the contraption he made (near the end of the show) that holds two cameras so he can shoot still photos and video at the same time.

It was taped 12/30/13. Not sure if this is the first airing or not.

  3. Good morning from sunny southern AZ. McCain is probably going to run. Again! The last Town Halls he conducted were invite only. Only heard about them from local news after the fact. Butt, he will be sloshing around soon telling us how great he does things.

  4. So pot is no more dangerous than alcohol, but apparently football is more dangerous. Just a quick reality check – how many people are killed or seriously injured (paralyzed, etc.) by football each year? And how many are killed by drunk drivers? How many of the football injuries occur to those who were not participating in football? Are any non-drinkers killed by drunk drivers?

    Just wondering…..

    • Ha Ha Pot Let’s All Get Stoned Ha ha. seems to be the new message.
For everyone who can down a six-pack on the weekend without any life-changing actions, there is someone who has lost everything to alcohol addiction.
The same goes for the pot culture. There aren’t too many families that haven’t anguished over the drug addictions of a loved one, and marijuana can become an addiction.

      • What better way to put the permanent welfare class into a permanent stupor – pot and alcohol. As long as they have their free cellphones, food stamps, unemployment/disability checks, and subsidized housing….there will never be a revolution.

  5. I am still amazed at his comment regarding marijuana. “No more dangerous than Alcohol” comment is just amazing. This is based on the fact that he was a pothead in his youth.

So, who will ask him the question about whether he would be alright with his daughters smoking marijuana? Interesting, how no studies that are supported by the Surgeon General, Law Enforcement or Congress. The basis for his pushing forward with this agenda is race and economic based. There are more poor minorities in jail because middle class white youth get out of going to jail. I would bet the current prisoners were given multiple chances as well but did not take advantage of these chances.

So, are we going to go through the prisons and base the population by laws broken, economic standing and race ??

PS-Has the WH released a list of laws that no longer are being enforced because President Obama does not think it is a real law??

    • Personally, I believe he’s right about this one thing. Pot is no more dangerous than alcohol, in fact it’s less dangerous, and there are studies which back that up.

        • I must confess, I have driven stoned in the past, but wouldn’t now. Basically, it made me drive really slowly! A quick and reliable test for driving stoned would be a great thing. I believe smarter people than I are working to develop such a device, even as we speak. If pot is to be legalized, it must be regulated like alcohol. Governments will legalize it in the end, because of the HUGE amount of tax it will bring to the coffers. As usual, it’s all about the money, honey.

      • If someone drinks booze, it goes into their system. If someone smokes pot, what happens when the smoke wafts through the air? Would people near the smoker be affected in some way?

    • We have heard/read about his comments over here as well and there has been a mixed reception. Many are flabbergasted, what, the president ??!!!!, many are surprised, many are disappointed and, well some, young ones, are pleased. We have very ,very strict laws om drugs. I really am not happy about this approval from the highest office in the US. It may be contagious. I don´t want us to go the Dutch way with their “coffe-houses”.

    • What about those who want to grow their own? Will we have those confounded “revenooers” skulking around our houses and face charges similar to those of moonshiners?

    • Wow! Good for her!
A few days ago I heard one of the pundits on CNN nonchalantly introduce two male guests as ‘Mr. X and his husband’. I did a double take. Sure ’nuff, it was two guys!
You can write about it and talk about it, but when you hear the actual words ‘his husband’, it defies all laws of the sanctity of marriage as laid out by our Creator. I’m horrified.

      • What is horrifying is this is shown on national main TV channels early in the evening. Young toddlers and kids have to grow up seeing that protrayed as the norm. If they stay out of my space and stop trying to change what I believe in. Point: Call it something else, do not as you stated intere with the sanctity of marriage, between a man and a woman.

        • My hairdresser, who I adore, is gay. He and his long-time partner were ‘married’ a few months ago. We have all known each other for eons, and it was always ‘David’ and ‘Robert’ (not their real names).
I received an invitation to a Christmas party at their home: Mr. and Mrs. ‘David X’ invite you to attend….”
I get the ‘partner’ thing, the ‘legal union’ thing…but I can’t accept the husband, wife…Mr. and Mrs. thing.
          You can’t fool Mother Nature!

    • The “establishment” on both sides of the aisle hated RevKing and his message of peace.
It was his promotion of peaceful demonstrations that irked them so much. They wanted, actually needed, civil rights demonstrations to become violent so that they could squash the “coloreds” with all the force in the government.
When nothing seemed to work in their favor, the powers-that-be decided to buy them off; hence the War on Poverty.

  6. I think the dog in the pix with Beyonce — the one pix that seems to have made it out of the WH and into the public — anyway, the dog I think is Sunny. Bo has white markings. Everyone forgets about Sunny who is primarily black.

Of course, I could be wrong. And if I am the progressive media assigned to the dogs in the WH will let us know.

  7. What is this guy smoking???

    Obama: Al Qaeda ‘Jayvee’

Compares al Qaeda to junior varsity team putting on Lakers jerseys: “That doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.”

In his New Yorker interview published over the weekend, President Obama stated that current Al Qaeda was “jayvee” – and said that his analogy was often used around the White House. “The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant,” Obama said. He then added, “I think there is a distinction between the capacity and reach of a bin Laden and a network that is actively planning major terrorist plots against the homeland versus jihadists who are engaged in various local power struggles and disputes, often sectarian.”
Attempting to respond to the growing power of Al Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula, including the takeover of the Iraqi city of Fallujah, Obama said that Al Qaeda’s activities didn’t always threaten American interests: “how we think about terrorism has to be defined and specific enough that it doesn’t lead us to think that any horrible actions that take place around the world that are motivated in part by an extremist Islamic ideology are a direct threat to us or something that we have to wade into.”

CNN reported last week that “al Qaeda appears to control more territory in the Arab world than it has done at any time in its history.”

During the 2012 campaign, the Obama administration routinely stated that al Qaeda was on the run.

    • Unbelievable.
      Semper Fidelis.
      Semper Fi.
      Latin for always faithful.
All of the branches of the military are always faithful to the branch that they served in and to the Country they served.
Some have served in more than one.
      Air Force
      Coast Guard

Always Faithful to the United States of America.
      Semper Fi !

  8. “I think we have not been quite the same since 2008, and probably never will be the same again. We didn’t leave America; America has left us.”

This is a line from a commentary over at AOS discussing a comment by Romney about America’s tipping point.. Romney did not say this, but he did make some revealing comments about what he should say in his concession speech.
You can find some discussion about this at AOS or over at Hot Air apparently by Byron York — about the Romney documentary. And probably around. Keith might even have something in his pipeline.

I am on the fence, but increasingly of the opinion that America left the door open and we didn’t care enough to shut it before the wind blew the windows out. Now we have the shiftless squatters and the predators.

    • I cannot imagine talking to my children, husband, huge family both sides about what I was doing, if I were in O’s job.
If he is using the line: Don’t listen to the Press. That don’t cut it.
Who are the people who found him, wrapped him up and presented him for this job. Those are the people I would like to hear about. At the same time there are so many other people with experience, military, intelligence that could have been chosen if there was not a plan behind all of this. Gracepmc you mentioned the windows being blown out. As fellow americans we are at the same time leaning over, running, to grab our freedom as it is flying out of the windows.

  9. Aussie Dave writes about a job opening with the UNWRA in social media.

Apparently, “occupied Palestinian territory” – East Jerusalem – is a country. Go figure.

Fluency in oral and written Arabic is a job requirement, yet not Hebrew. So (most) Israelis need not apply.

One can only imagine why “Experience using Photoshop and Illustrator to edit and format images for use in social media” is a desirable qualification.

  10. I missed the football game yesterday. This morning I stopped to see highlight of game. All of a sudden their was a out of control player, screaming at the reporter and the camera. Well if that is the ballgame of the future. So much for that intertainment.
People who run ads, I will not be seeing them. That is unfortunate. You spend millions on the ad.

      • I agree regarding mute. It’s just their are a lot of kids running around the den while Dad is watching the game. The players could act a little better at least for the kids that admire them.

        • It took my son starting to play football when he was about nine for me to become a big fan of the sport. (He also plays baseball but I cannot watch it on television–I’d rather watch grass grow.) Over the years, I’ve seen him learn how to sublimate his emotions into socially sanctioned aggression on the field. It’s not easy, but he’s progressing.

The behavior of that Seahawk after the game was outrageous–he’s a grown man who should know by now when to shut his mouth and head to the locker room. I hope his coach chewed him a new one.

  11. Here’s more on Sadie’s post in yesterday’s Open Thread about Wendy Davis. She gave up custody her daughters–one of whom was from her first marriage–to her second husband.

When she and Davis got a divorce (the court documents cite adultery on Wendy’s part but the final divorce decree makes no mention of any infidelity), she handed full custody of their daughter to her now ex-husband, stating that he was a “nurturing father” and that it was just “not a good time” for her.

  12. [T]hirteen House Democrats are trying to push a new bill, The Hate Crime Reporting Act (HR 3878), that will launch a new investigation into the use of hate language on the internet, mobile phones, television and radio. SNIP

Who is going to decide what is and isn’t hate language? That will fall to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

    • There goes Free Speech right out the window.
What about the Speech they are making on this?
We don’t won’t to hear. Well in America they have the right to ramble their thoughts, as we do.
Don’t these people read the CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Just caught a clip of Obama and the girls rolling burritos at the D.C. Central Kitchen. No sign of Mooch. She must still be opening b-day gifts from Saturday night. Either that, or she is back in Hawaii sipping pina coladas.
